But then again, I wouldn't wear that chambray either

would you wear the simmon-goddot chambray?

Maybe in a very light pale blue color but honestly, I don't "get" chambray.

In any darker blue than that, it just looks like a soft denim shirt with a dress shirt cut and collar - not a fan

That Simonnot-Godard fabric has to be the most overhyped fabric on SF - I handled it at my shirt maker and was completely puzzled that people would go out of their way to acquire it.... different strokes, I guess

Just asking because he has expressed strong views on that fabric here...

Link please? I'm interested in reading it. He certainly was not impressed when I saw the stuff at his workshop

...

It's a tempest in a teapot. Unless you get it through Will, as far as I know, SG only sends it on to a few, and then only in 50m bolts (which at least at one time, pissed off a few shirtmakers, or so I am told.)
Don't like it? Don't get it, don't make it. Simple as that.
I happen to like it a lot.

For the number you have, I wonder if you might as well have gotten the 50m bolt.

Really? I can't remember a single other shirting fabric that has been discussed and praised as much as this stuff - G&R had a passing moment on SF but SG is the grail. For a while it was like some sort of rare drug that could only be obtained via contraband.. "can you get me some?" "man, I don't have enough for me..." "i can find any, who can get me some of it??" Then Will gave access and it was like a giant climax of sorts.

I agree completely. Note that I did not bring it up above, I answered fritz's question

I missed the whole SG-gate episode linked above so I honestly had not seen much negative energy around this thing here.

laugh.gif I don't remember that, but that does sound funny.

I honestly thing that it is Riva and Bonfanti that generated the most salivary action, for similar reasons plus the whole story of the old looms and the feuds.

I'm sad to hear of Foo's Riva Matuozzos biting the dust. It's like an Internet chapter is closing.

If you read one of the old threads, you'll see that I was considering doing that.

I too have 3 or 4 shirts made from the fabric and so far I like it very much. Another peanut
