Plantar Warts - Page 3

Results Of the 51 patients completing the study, 26 (51%) were treated with duct tape, and 25 (49%) were treated with cryotherapy. Twenty-two patients (85%) in the duct tape arm vs 15 patients (60%) enrolled in the cryotherapy arm had complete resolution of their warts (P = .05 by 2 analysis). The majority of warts that responded to either therapy did so within the first month of treatment.

Conclusion Duct tape occlusion therapy was significantly more effective than cryotherapy for treatment of the common wart.

The recent study that "concludes that duct tape use is overrated" was done using clear duct tape, and doesn't invalidate it at all. Apparently it is the rubber or something else in grey duct tape that irritates the wart skin and causes the immune system to attack it.

freeze the warts off.Had eight small ones on my hand and the doc went crazy and froze them-twice. Now all gone painful as hell but effective

(I was 19... didn't know any better and I never liked my family doctor) I had three or four on one foot, caught them early so they were small. Scraped around them with a sterile scalpel til the roots were free, then yanked them out Was accompanied by gritting of teeth, and yelping like hell. Then I showed my family the fleshy little stumps I had pulled out. Nobody thought it was as cool as I did. Bled like hell for a few minutes, never had a recurrence... but wouldn't recommend it unless you're immature, impatient, and slightly vacant in the skull

It should only require one or two visits to a physician, assuming everything goes smoothly. But there are some growths that aren't warts and might not be wise to remove.

I got a big plantar on my foot when I was in the army years ago... and for the next five years I tryed all the typical things like cutting, burning, freezing and using every type of acid on the market. I visited my family doctor so many times that it was a joke. I went to a natureopathic doc as well.. and drank pine needle juice for a few months... wore duct tape on my feet for a whole summer...no dice... it got so bad that they had spread all over my feet and hands. It wasn't untill I went to a clinical hypnotist that I finally got rid of them (painlessly).

Anyway, I made a blog where I added some youtube video's of people who did all the classic treatments. Like burning with insence and cutting with nail clippers... None of these methods work.

Now we know what those drawings in the "Al Queda Torture Thread" in the current events forum are really about. It's just Al Queda wart remedies.

My grandmother had an anti-wart remedy that consisted of burying a rag in a mason jar in the back yard. It worked for her. Never underestimate the power of the mind over the body. (But I'll stick with the tried and true knife and pliers remedy.)

The bio-t stuff is nuts. It takes care of any lesion. Just some black walnut salve. It uses alkaloids to stimulate an immune response. Scrub the warts with a pumice first to facilitate absorption.

I've used this on a mole. It is pretty crazy stuff.

How long ago did you try it on a mole? Has it come back? The one criticism I've seen of that stuff is that it leaves some mole tissue intact so the mole eventually grows back.
