Atlantic City

I will be in AC for the coming weekend. Apart from gambling what restaurant, bars, clubs should be considered? I'm staying a non casino hotel on the boardwalk so will probably spend alot of time at the Tropicana gambling.

I think we are looking to do one big night out (get a little dressy for a nice club or bar) and then more relaxed for the other day (chill bar to wear jeans and Tees). Though we'll be rolling quite hard, there will be no high rolling.

BTW, anyone know of any crab/seafood spots for afternoon lunch?

I haven't been recently, but from what I understand, AC is a shell of its former self. Casinos aside, it's a dying city. Stray a block form the strip and it's desolation row: pawn shops, electronics outlets (for people to buy stuff w/ CC once checking acct is tapped out, and then pawn) and crack whores.

FWIW, White House subs are very good...

I definately don't expect AC to give a comparable experience to Vegas (won't bother heading there until I have $1k to blow), however I'm sure there are 2-3 places worth checking out

Check the House of Blues. They usually have some good concerts going on. The Borgata is a pretty nice place. Comedy shows are usually pretty good to check out also.

I think there is a new upscale mall right on the Boardwalk. I was there about a year ago but the stores were still under construction.

IIRC, the Tropicana has a pretty cool place inside with several clubs and places to eat. It's weird because they keep the light and temp and a certain level and you can't tell what time of day it is. I've been there until 3 or 4 in the morning and didn't realize what time it was or that I was even tired.

My friend and I visited Atlantic City some years ago. We wore suits and were twice mistaken for staff. Second time was at the door of a casino nightclub by their own doormen. That was pretty funny.

The coming weekend is memorial day weekend, the whole shore is going to be sick - it's the official opening of the season.

For really good seafood, you might want to make the trip over to Cape May.

I'm going to be in AC next weekend with the GF. Can anyone recommend a good restaurant or two? The first night we are going to do something nice just my GF and myself, and the next night something more casual with her friends.

Thanks

The borgata has a ton of nice restaurants. Just go to their site and take a look. I will repost when I have more time to look up the place I went to in '07

There's a restaurant in the Tropicana called Carmine's. I had the best chicken parm there. I dream about that chicken parm. I think the restaurant might be a chain (or at least there might be a few locations).

I did hear something about Tropicana closing down, but I'm not sure.

Also, if you go to Caesars, there's a section of it across from the main hotel (on the other side of the boardwalk) - called the Pier Shops. There are a few nice restaurants in there, including a place called Sonsie that I thought w as really good.

Stick to the borgata, the water club, or the centurion tower at caesars. I'd eat at the borgata if you're looking for something nicer...it's a $15 cab ride from the boardwalk and a bitch to go back and forth from so try to stay there.

I rather liked Atlantic City the one time I was there. There's a very old and beautiful Catholic Church somewhere a little inland there that I remember. I also enjoy making telephone calls from the beach. I am such an introvert.

I was there with a friend in high school. He was a virgin, and pissed he couldn't get laid, so I found him a hooker from the bar on top of the hotel. She was fat, but I think he was happy. That is AC in a nutshell.

I cannot think of a more tacky, tasteless, disgusting and vile place to spend time in the US.
