Hello Styleforum ,

My name is Gianni Cerutti and I am the founder of Passaggio Cravatte ( www.passaggiocravatte.com )

I have come to know Styleforum through one my clients who showed me this thread discussing our brand: http://www.styleforum.net/t/279022/new-ties . And that's why I wanted to become a sponsor and affiliate.

This thread is meant to tell you more about who we are, what we do, and what makes us unique.

Passaggio Cravatte has features that make us uniqie in Italy and the world.

1 ) We do not have anything ready for purchase because everything is bespoke: bespokeTIES, pocket squares, cummerbunds, ascots and bow ties. When placing an order, the customer chooses the silk , texture, pattern , interior, measurements , opening of the folds , color of the joists and whether to embroider or not your initials or your family crest. Everything is done by hand.

2 ) We only use vintage silks - still hand-printed from many years ago . All are endangered  and the quantity is very limited . All our thirst have from 40 to 80 years of life on his shoulders. And the quality of hand print is great. Our silks are much sought after . I love to call them dandy - elegant .

3) We know how to do the ancient 7 folds in one piece of silk. WHEN THIS ALL TIES IN THE WORLD ARE THE UNION OF 3 PIECES OF FABRIC. FERRARI ARE THE TIES OF THE PIECE. For a tie, we need 2 yards of silk in length and 1.50 meters in height. Our oldest 7 folds are done differently than the the modern way. Our model  goes back to the early 1900s. It 's all unlined and all hemmed by hand as it was done 100 years ago.

4 ) We willl not open up a shop. This is because we think they are too commercial . We only want to make bespoke.

HOW TO GET A PASSAGIO CRAVATTE TIE?

Below are are the methods to get our bespoke ties :

1 ) For those who can't come to Milan we can do everything by email. Just send an email to info@passaggiocravatte.com and I will send you all of the  vintage silks we have available . Together we will then decide on everything for your bespoke piece.

2 ) For those who want to meet us we usually meet in the most exclusive hotel in Milan. Just send an email to info@passaggiocravatte.com then we will decide on a time and place .

Please be patient with our replies and feel free to ask us any questions. We look forward to the discussion.

Hi Gianni,

Welcome to the forum. Do you think that you could show us some of the silks that you carry, and maybe some pictures of your handiwork? I feel that a lot of people on the forum would be interested in seeing this.

Cheers,

Fok.

Sure ... my intention is just to show our vintage silks and our steps lavorazione.E more I want to show to all members of our ties bespoke finish.

start from the show some vintage fabrics in the group ... only ever hand-printed many years ago. We only vintage silks. And all our fabrics have 30 to 80 years of life on his shoulders. And all are threatened with extinction. This is because the true vintage being the quantity is very limited. And in the past the silk had a much higher quality today.

here these are some of our vintage fabrics. Look at the colors and patterns. And all of them are still being printed many years ago. We have only vintage fabrics.

I just can not touch a modern silk. Today almost all digital prints. And the soul and life of the silk loses all with digital printing.

forgive my english ... it's not one of the best!! ... But I try to do my best making bespoke ties.

Gianni -
Welcome to the board!

I actually did an interview with Gianni a few weeks ago at An Uptown Dandy. Despite the language barrier - and his English is certainly better than my Italian - his passion for bespoke tiemaking is readily apparent. I'll be posting a review of a few of his ties in the next week or so - they are real works of art. The vintage seven fold is really something to see!

There's some basic info here that will probably help those interested in placing an order:

Nice. tbh, from what you said, the prices are not at all out of line with high end ties - and it certainly seems that you could do worse at that price, at least from your report and from others. I haven't tried his ties yet, but I hope to relatively soon.

Thank you so much for your compliments. I am truly honored that.

Soon I want to show how a bespoke tie with our vintage silk.

how much is a tie including shipping to Australia?

the cost of ties varies depending on the model. And the cost of shipping to Australia is around 60 euro.

But now we have changed their courier to lower costs. Now we use UPS with cash on delivery cash on delivery. This is to be 100% transparent. And above all, the cost of transportation enjoys the discounts that UPS does to us.

Here's the first of many images that explain how our bespoke vintage ties.

The customer chooses everything. You start by choosing the vintage silk. Then together you decide the model, if classical, 4 foulds , 5 folds, pleats 6 or ancien 7 folds. Then you choose the structure, if it in a single piece of silk or in 2 or 3 pieces of silk. It is always the customer then has to decide the measures, the interior, the opening of the folds and the color of the joists rear. And finally, we offer the opportunity to embroider, always at hand, your initials or your family crest.

Without all these choices together with the client we can move to the operational phase.

Here is our first operational phase. The fabric is stretched and then placed on a sheet of paper. This is to avoid that the silk to move too far during cutting.

As you see cut silk one at a time. And always and only with the use of scissors. We do not use electrical drives. And we do not get thirsty one another. This is because the centering of the drawing must be perfect. And then just doing it because it is impossible to do all bespoke ties equal.

I ordered a couple of ties from Gianni after seeing his work in the other Passagio thread:

http://www.styleforum.net/t/279022/new-ties/40_40#post_6626684

The two I ordered were done in seven fold. First, let me say that working with Gianni has been a real pleasure. He is a gentlemen and his love for his art is readily apparent. You'll get photos of all the silks that are available and truthfully, the pictures don't do justice to the final product. So...I'll just share a few pics of the ties he made for me and let the pictures do the talking:
