Can't Seem to Lose Weight

Ive been working out consistently for the last 2 years and have fallen from 180 to 165, but for the last six months I have been stuck at 165. My muscle mass continues to increase, but I dont seem to be slimming down at all.
Any suggestions?

If you're stuck at 165 and your muscle mass is increasing, doesn't that mean that your body fat is also dropping? If you want to slim down, stop growing heavy muscle.

It seems like you're at the point where you caloric intake is equal to the the amount you're burning. Either increase the amount of activity you do or decrease the amount of calories.

Why would you want to under 165? If you want to lose weight, starting running 6-8 miles a week? That will slim you down quickly.

Green tea and other substances can safely burn more fat, if your complaint is about fat and not just the scale's reading. Probably there are other areas in which the diet can be improved. Better sleep can assist weight loss, too.

How often are you sitting around in the day? Keep in mind your daily activities help too. while i was at school i was burning like 2000 calories from sleeping, walking to class, etc. Keep in mind that these things do count. If you're sitting around all day, try being more active. It could help.

Quit sitting around and start sleeping !

Seriously, the more muscle you have, the more calories you will burn
doing just about anything.

Most of the other posts make good sense. But it's not clear -- are you concerned about the weight number for some reason, or about your appearance. Sounds like you're getting to be in better shape, which would seem to be the most important goal. Other than the initial "surge" you get when you first start working out, it's difficult if not impossible to add muscle mass and lose weight at the same time. What's your endgame here?

Basically the problem is that I still seem to have a belly a loose pecs. Not badly, but my torso just won't tighten up. My muscle mass has improved greatly, my cardio is dramatically bettter, but appearance wise nothing is changing.

I know that feeling.

I've lost a lot of weight over the past year (about 30% of my current body weight) and while I generally look much better, I can still "pinch and inch". Even running 6-8 miles a day 5 or 6 days a week the weight is coming off very slowly at this point.

To "tighten up" as you put it, you need to drop to <10% body fat and the simple fact is that you body doesn't want to give it up. It's a survival thing.

On the other hand, if you're sorta guesstimating your caloric intake, you probably don't have a caloric imbalance. People grossly overestimate the number of calories they're burning and equally underestimate the calories they're consuming.

A week?! Quickly? That's a mile or less a day. Definitely not going to drop your weight down significantly.

You do not need to be below 10% to have very noticeable toning. Anything less than 6-8% is essential fat. Anywhere between 10-13% and your doing great.

Yeah, if you run a 12-minute mile, which is a pretty slow pace, that means you are getting 12 minutes of cardio per day and burning about 160 calories (depending on your weight). Given that there are 3500 calories in a pound of fat, it will take you 20 days just to burn one pound at that rate.

I spent more than a year trying to get my body fat below 15% using a reduced calorie diet and static cardio without much success. To get to my current 11%, I had to increase the amount of resistance training, change the cardio to include high intensity intervals, and alter my diet to include more calories but with a higher protein/carb ratio. I also find it helpful to change up the training every 3-4 months.

Did you include any bulk cycles in that year, or did you just spend a year cutting?
