Motorcycle riders? - Page 2

I don't ride a motorcycle, but if I did, I'd definitely get a Suzuki Hayabusa.  Those bikes are unbelievably fast.  Truly a wicked ride.  A bit of practice and you're covering the standing 1/4 mile in under 10 seconds.  Amazing top end too.   I'd love to have one, but I'm too much of a wussy boy.  Worried about what might happen if I ran over a prarie dog doing 110.  I feel safer having 4 wheels.
Kai: Pretty sure that if you ran over a prarie dog even with 4 wheels going at 110, you would need some help. (or be beyond help for that matter). Nice Viper though. JJF

I have a 2000 BMW F650 and mainly take it out on the weekends here in the Black Hills. It is a single cylinder, dual-sport bike that is comfortable both on pavement as well as the numerous fire trails and gravel roads around these parts. I'm considering an R1150RT or other sport touring BMW. Jeff

From the age of 16 to the age of 32 I owned motorcycles.  Starting with a 1980 Yamaha XS400, then a 1983 Honda CX500, then a 1983 Kawasaki KZ1000. Later a Suzuki GS500 at the same time.  Following that I bought a 1990 Suzuki DR650 thumper.  Then on to a 1992 Honda nighthawk 750, and finally an 850 Parrallel twin by Yamaha called the TDM, which was my favorite. In 2002 I was rear ended by a car and I fractured my skull, suffered a subdural hematoma (internal bleeding in my brain) and fractured 4 ribs, my right elbow, and my T1 vertebrae (ie: broke my neck).  Before buying a motorcycle, I'd advise reading the research. I now drive a Ford Festiva (which I love) -Tom

In the three years after I got out of high school, dirt bikes were my main interest. I used to ride about 50/50 trails and local motocross tracks. Lot's of fun. I don't have time anymore, I only go riding once or twice a year. My last bike was a CR500 (I'm a big guy, I need a big bike.) Any other dirt bike guys here??
Used to ride when I was in Yr 8 high school. Only lasted a few months..... Hit a big rock - went airborne - fell on my arm and broke it - bone sticking out - GREAT PAIN.... Had to lie and wait while a friend rode off to get help. Parents sold the bike....
