Hey anyone and everyone,
I'm currently rebooting my closet after a pretty severe panic and purge of almost all my clothes.
This has not been easy. I've thrown away, donated, and sold literally all I own save for two cardigans in navy and charcoal.
So far I've purchased:
x5 J.Crew slim fit casual button downs
x1 solid charcoal tie
x1 sterling silver tie-clip
x1 pair of Levi's 511 jeans
x4 plain t-shirts
x3 pairs of socks
What I need:
x2 pairs of chinos in Navy and Khaki
x1 pair of shoes
x Jacket (I live in California and am thinking between a cotton sportscoat or a Babrour Liddesdale in olive for the fall and winter)
What I want:
x3 pairs of chinos in less traditional colors
x1 pair of shoes in either black or brown (whichever I don't purchase in the need category)
x1 belt (see above)
assorted socks and boxer briefs
x5 plain white undershirts
I'm 5'9, roughly 125 pounds. Very very skinny. Seriously, what looks slim to you will probably drown me. I can't wear a shirt unless its extra small and slim fitted. Hence my preference to J.Crew as their slim fit shirts fit me perfectly. I wear a 28/30 in pants which means I have to tailor almost any that I purchase unless they're denim and I can cuff them.
I'm 20, in school, and I'm a special needs caregiver. That means I make close to no money. Luckily, I've parlayed a lot of my former wardrobe into my new one. I have about $450 saved right now and am maxed out on all my credit cards! Please help me!
The most important thing I need right now is chinos. I've been wearing a shirt a day, each with the same tie which is versatile as hell and my jeans and really need to add something. Ideally, I'd like to stretch the money I have right now as far as I can, but I care about quality. I've tried Gap for chinos but each pair fits differently and they bunch at my knees. I'm thinking J.Crew 484 chinos, but are there any better options in a similar fit?
I'm currently bidding on some AE Park Avenues in black, but would prefer to start off with brown shoes and belt.
The jackets aren't as important to me as I'm set with cardigans and its probably going to stay in the 80's here for a few more weeks.
I'm not clueless, but treat me as if I am. I'm coming at this like I've never owned anything but Zoo York tees and jeans (8th grade was not such a good year sartorially.)
Thank you to any brave souls who reply!
