Comments on '97 Audi Cabriolet?

I test drove it yesterday, and it seems like a really nice car within my budget (trying to go used and stay under $10k). My only concern is the lack of "pick up." The acceleration is very smooth, and it doesn't respond to mashing the pedal down. I have been driving a rental (Pontiac Grand Prix) that practically pins me to the seat whenever I want to really go. Other than that, though, I love the design of the body, the way it performs on curves and sharp turns, the understated elegance, etc. Any comments on this model or others I might want to look at? I am looking for a convertible, but other criteria are kind of open. I was considering "muscle" cars like Ford Mustang, but would like better handling. Also, I looked at Nissan 350Z but I want a 4-seater.

Are you serious? What's wrong with Audi?

BMW's have an image (yuppie assholes) that I don't necessarily want to associate myself with, although I know there are some nice BMW convertibles in this class.

Sweet ride - what model is that?

This is an E46 BMW 320i Cabrio from 2004... I just changed my sedan to this, and I am in love...

before that I had the E36 cabrio that I am sure you can get for around $10000

here is a pic of one for sale here a BMW 328i from 1997 that is priced around $10500 here.

You could find something similar over there I think

I had one exactly like this one before and man It was a pleasure to ride it, powerful, elegant, beautiful

Here it is, parked at the grocery store.

Downtown LA has some great streets for driving.

Driving a car without a walnut fascia is unthinkable.

Well, Lakewolf, thanks for "steering" me in the right direction. Now, I can drive around LA, smug in my status as a yuppie asshole.

Seriously, though, this car is fun to drive. I didn't realize before that it had a powerful engine, manual transmission, and, of course, it's nice being able to feel the wind and be seen with the top down.

I really enjoy to drive my convertible, feel the wind, see better and also be seen... I think this is the way cars should be, as it was at the beginning when most cars were convertibles. After you experience it you can go as confortable in a closed car don't you ?

It has its downside, as they are less practical to carry things or if have a family or pets, with it.. but as we are yuppie assholes we can enjoy it until need makes us get another kind of car

anyway congratulations, I absolutely loved my E36 when I had it, and I am sure you'd get a lot of pleasure and miles out of it !
