It seems I got the latter. While it may be theoretically possible to correct it, I have yet to find a tailor that can do it well such that I’ve had to resign myself to the reality that a coat that doesn’t fit well in the shoulders right off the bat is highly unlikely to ever be fixed so that it does.

The problem isn't the shoulder, it's armhole. It looks too narrow. See this post: http://www.styleforum.net/t/151698/divot-terror#post_2686570

That's correct. And I didn't mean to imply that it was the padding of the shoulder that was the problem; it's just seems to be that unpadded shoulders, by and large, tend to fit me best, possibly because the sleeveheads on those types of shoulders are already cut shorter/wider in the first place. At any rate, I've been surprised by how few tailors know how or are willing to do this alteration and, of the ones that have been willing to do it, I've found that those past attempts in doing this alteration have left me a lot to be desired.

Alex and I would like to thank you for your honest review, and we will take your valuable advice and bear that in mind as we continue to evolve how we do our online business.

I'm sorry there were fine details such as the quarters that you didnt like. Perhaps there was some misunderstanding when you asked me to copy your sportcoat, which I interpreted as copy the measurements as opposed to the style. A more opened quarters is something that clients can request with us if that is something they prefer. As for the color and fit, I openly admit that the shoulders were a bit wide on this suit and we would be more than happy as I mentioned earlier to redo the suit in a fabric that is more suitable to your liking as well as cover the costs of shipping that you would incur to send the items back to us, so in essence your only cost for this would be the initial $90 you spent. I know you've already bought your suit from Suit Supply but we do believe in delivering something excellent and feel as the main winner of our competition we still owe you that much.

Again, thank you for taking the time to write such a lengthy review and to highlight the good and bad points.

-Chris

Hi Chris

Thanks for your kind offer and I will send you a separate email to discuss further. I did neglect to mention that you guys have been great to work with and and very accommodating with my different requests. You do seem to be really making an extra effort in creating a customer centred experience which is great and worth a recommendation in my opinion.

This. Chris and Alex provide a nice service. In my case we exchanged a lot of emails before starting and they always responded very fast.

Happy 2014 everyone! The good news for this year is that we're adding a few more suiting fabrics and shirting fabrics, will let you know once we do! The bad news however is that our website add-on to offer orders via fabric selection has hit a roadbump, we're hoping to have it out ASAP but it is looking like another month or possibly more unfortunately. In the mean time some of you have messaged us about our find a fabric service and we're happy to help scan or take pics of fabrics that may be of interest to you. Feel free to email us at alex@modarepublic.com or chris@modarepublic.com. Thanks and best wishes for 2014!

We've hit a snag unfortunately but hope to have things up and running with a refreshed and revamped site in the next month or so. Stay tuned!

Here's a pic of the shirt I won in Moda Republic's competition:

Very happy with the shirt and I was really impressed by the customer service provided by Chris -- especially since this is a free shirt won in a competition.

Hi Kayhill,

Thanks for putting a review up and we're all extremely happy you liked both the quality and the fit of the shirt. It was a pleasure working with you on this too and thanks for always getting back to us so quickly.
