melbourne Labor day

looks like I will be in Melbourne on labor day

1. any specific recommendations for labor day? I've been in Melbourne a few times, but it would be a shame for me to miss something that everyone else knows about but I don't know to be on the lookout for.

2., anybody want to have a meal/beer?

3. any non-labor day specific recommendations that I might have missed in previous trips?

4. any recommendations for a good running route? the last time I was there I ran along a river, and that was really cool, but I am open for new ideas.

thanks

I'll probably be at uni as it's not a holiday for universities because the original protest started by workers building Melbourne university. If you're staying near the CBD, a popular running route is the tan track which goes around the botanic gardens and through some other connected parks in that area. An annual festival is also held every year (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moomba).

Just as a clarification: NSW has their labour day in October, Victoria in March.

Let me know if you want any more recommendations. A good place to ask would also be in the Australian thread in MC as I think some people only really check that thread.
