I know what you mean. I'm just a little OCD with crap like this. Ignore my ramblings please happy.gif

I'm done with the OCD break-in period and wearing 'em out on the streets today.

You needed to wait atleast 5 more days, 7, hours, 14 seconds. Now your boots will be ruined. Tisk

They will self-destruct now

Mine arrived finally this morning. I wasn't able to take a long look at them, but it looks like the flush metal toe taps were done well. I tried them on for a second and got the impression the width is great. They seem a tad long, as there is space in the toe. How much space do you all normally have or are willing to live with in the toe of your shoes/boots?

Glad yours finally arrived and that the toe taps were installed well.

I don't worry too much about the room at the toe.  Some of my boots have more, some have less.  It depends on the shape of the last at the front and the shape of your foot.  If the widest part of the Harlechs is at the ball of your foot (what's that called, the arch length?), then you're good to go.  I'd just gauge how they feel.  The 341 last is a pointier last compared to say, the 325.  And obviously, much pointier than the Alden Barrie.

Would be very interested in an overhead & profile comparison between the Harlech and grant lasted captoe if any of you lucky fellows has both.

Would love to help out, but I have a grant lasted one on order and I won't have it for a while unfortunately.

Grant is more rounded. Both lasts are nice. The 341 is one of C&J's best lasts IMO.

Not exactly what you were looking for, but here's Alden color 8 captoe in Grant last, and C&J Coniston in 325 last. I think someone was asking for this a few pages back in the thread..
