Crockett & Jones MTO Central - Page 366

"Barlow" will 99% be double leather sole, storm welt. Waiting to hear back from Lauren on the wheeling, but in my opinion a single leather sole throws off the balance of the shoe. Wheeling is too minor a detail to change the makeup over.

10 members including myself are interested. We need 2 more to get this going and I have no doubt we will get them considering this was proposed a few days ago and the GBP is at an all time low!

Please count me in for the Brown Shell Marlow (Barlow) as well.
Ideally with wheeling but I agree that the double leather sole takes precedence.

Dumb question regarding the Barlow... Is "brown" different than the "dark brown" shell that C&J uses?

In other words, will this be materially different in color from the actual Marlow wingtip stocked by RL?
Ya agreed even though I already committed. Anyone have a color comparison of the original
Marlow and the Barlow colors?
Color is the exact same as the Marlow for RL. Both use brown shell cordovan.

Given the variations in brown shell, some hides are a bit more of a mid brown and some come out a bit darker. It's more or less random.

Some people have observed that CJ brown shell has been getting a bit darker recently including on the RL Marlow, however they apply a dark finish that can be buffed off to give the shoe a lighter look.

The Cardigan 4 shoes that I recently purchased were a darker brown.  I'm not sure if this was somewhat random or the newer standard, but I think it looks nice.  Over time it will lighten and develop patina.

Just heard back from Lauren, no wheeling on storm welts. Wheeling possible on normal welt.

She says she does not know if this is a new policy, but just relaying what her Factory Director has told when I mentioned that the RL Marlow and other CJ shoes are wheeled with storm welts.

When we go ahead with the order I will attempt to plead our case again and see if they will change their minds but going forward we should assume there will be no wheeling.

We are now at 11 members, need 1 more to move ahead and maybe 1 or 2 additional assuming some fall through or change their minds.

It's rarely boot weather where I am... looking for a weekend shoe that I can chase kids around the park in.  Sometimes, even chukkas are too tall.

Edit: Would you consider the Ashdown in brown, rather than the Grasmere (which, IIRC, the Marlow PTB is)?  It's on the 341 rather than the 325 and just looks more "sleek..." (C) @peppercorn78

I was actually thinking the ashdown first but figured it would be harder to sell than a 325 Marlow PTB. I would do down for that in brown shell. Maybe throw some eyelets on there? (I'm fine with blind too)

Those are actually cool. I would consider these or something similar on the next run.

If Ira the same as original

Thanks
