I have to agree with this.  I highly doubt anyone is going to want to wear the whiskey shell out in the rain or snow and get their shell all spotted up.  Although personally I've found shell to play a lot nicer with snow than rain (as you can just shake the snow off before things get spotty).

Another +1 from me.  Double leather is ideal for this boot.  Hopefully the first round governance is almost sorted and we can get these under way.

Double leather and move the project along... If they were last 325, double leather sole, storm welt, I'd be all over these and I bet a lot of other members would kill for that boot in Whiskey. Last 341 is nice looking but 325 will get a wider audience. You get too fancy with sole, last, welt, you move a lot of "folks" ( as O likes to refer to us ) out of the realm.

I don't want to see the first round on the harlech fall apart. If needed I can take lead on it.

Let me know.

For those on the Skye II MTO; had a brief exchanged with Lauren, all I could get out of her is that they are about half way through... Not very helpful but it's something

My apologies for the delay in updating everyone on the Whiskey Shell Harlech GMTO.

I heard back from Lauren at C&J. They can do an order for 12 whiskey boots in a couple months. They can also do another run of 12 after the first one if we have 24 orders. This second run would simply be delivered later, but I think it could be submitted at the same time as the first order. Lauren suggested getting everyone's information (sizing, address, payment, etc.) together now, so that everything is squared away by the time the order can be placed.

Unfortunately I'm looking for someone to take over the duties of organizing this GMTO going forward, as I think I'm going to pass on this boot (I simply have funds going to other things and will surely regret it). I hope that everyone understands.

If you're willing to take over, just send me a PM with your email address saying so and I'll (1) reply with Lauren's email address, (2) let Lauren know she should be hearing from you, and (3) reply here stating the new official organizer for this GMTO. I think the main task is to get a list of 12 from the below list, starting at the top of the list (madridista was the first to express interest, and so on).

Thanks for the update, Papa Doble, and for the chance to take over the GMTO!

There's a couple of things I will do now, such as emailing Lauren at C&J and get a rough estimate of when the Harlechs can be expected to go into production.

I will also PM the 12 first on the list (up to @kathmandont since @sleepyinsanfran just opted out) to see if they're all still in the game, and if anyone isn't, I will move down the list.

There's been some discussion recently about what sole should be used. The original makeup that was proposed had a Dainite sole, while others have suggested a double leather sole. Personally, I prefer double leather for the reasons others have mentioned. So unless there's a massive opinion against a double leather sole among the first 12 on the list, that's what it'll be.

I'm also sure some will have opinions about hooks or all eyelets, and about flat welt or storm welt, but here I'm ready to go with the original makeup, i.e. all eyelets (blind) and flat welt unless there's a massive opinion for hooks or storm welts (I'm personally fine with all options) among the first 12 on the list.

So, to repeat, new proposed makeup:

Crockett & Jones Harlech Cap Toe Boot
Last: 341
Upper: Whiskey Shell Cordovan
Sole: Double Leather
Welt: Flat 360 degree
Edging: antique/light brown
Eyelets: all blind, no hooks
Pull tab: none

PMs will follow later today.

As Joey Ramone would have said, "Hey Ho, Let's Go!"

Bad news guys...

A beaver broke into the C&J factory this evening and ate all of the Whiskey Shell...

Sorry...

Eh, they'll get here when they get here. I'm probably not going to get much wear out of mine until at least september anyway. Too hot until then to wear a skye II.
