Gentleman,

I would like to have some advice about my project of C&J MTO

Here is an short description of the beast :
- Model : skye cordovan
- Last : 325 (the last of my conniston is so confortable)
- Leather : dark brown cordovan or burgundy....
- Sole : Ridgeway (in between commando and studded dainite)
- Welt :Veldtschoen (better waterproof than stormwelt)
- Particularity : half bellows tongue

What do you think? I even don't know if it is possible? How would you improve this?
Thanks

I believe Skye is only made on 335 last and C&J is unwilling to change that. I am not sure if they would be willing to do cordovan on veldschoe construction. You should probably check with C&J directly.

I don't think C&J will do veldtschoen in cordovan since the equipment used for this technique easily causes bruises on the leather which can't be hidden very well on cordovan. But I'm not sure why you would do it either, since cordovan is not very water resistant. But @CTBrummie can most definitely provide input here. Otherwise your make up sounds nice, though I'd personally prefer double leather soles with cordovan - or dainite if it has to be rubber...

Thanks guys for all your answer

I send a email just after reading your answer and C&J answer me within 2 hours :)

They can produce this boot with all my specifications :)

I choose a Veldtschoen welt because I didn't have yet, the waterproof abilities are better than stormwelt and it is used on a successful way on EG Galway

The price is 900£ a bit more expensive than the skye 2 (650£)

I am still hesitating burgundy or dark brown?

Both are really nice, but personally, I think that dark brown is much nicer. I have brown shoes, (not the skye 2, but have seen it in person, and its wonderful shade of brown) and color 8 shell, and find that I reach for the brown more. To each their own though. Both are great colors. Brown though, is the winner in my eyes. Easier to pair, and look better when they are a bit beat up.

Dark brown grain Gianni on Dainite? Not currently in progress but something I've wanted for ages. Tried to get a MTO going a while back but not enough takers. Need 12.

They dont recommend shell for any kind of boot or show which is destined for much outdoor use at all. And you're right about the leather bruising due to the way the uppers are turned out to be stitched to the missile. That particular convo was about whisky shell in particular.

They will only produce veldt footwear using a limited range of thick, water resistant leathers.

@hoit1981

You requested a picture of these, here you go. Surprisingly 335 is a little shorter than 341 lasts. about 1 cm shorter than 341 last. It does not look like to be optimum fit for me or I should have gone a half size up.

Any interest in a Pembroke in dark brown country calf (same used on Brecon, Ashdown, Bangor, Islay...).
325 last. Danite sole. Bangor is similar, but I prefer the 325 last and the medallion on the Pembroke.

inspirations for the make up include
