There has been so much of misinformation regarding shell cordovan and rain in this thread alone. I remember Ron Rider saying that shell cordovan should be worn in rain and one should not fear the consequences. I am going to take the word of the expert and do a little test. That above is the picture of the first batch Harlech taking on New England rain yesterday and today. This is my first experience with shell so far it seems that shell cordovan handles rain much better than calf. Last night all I did was to brush the shoes quickly and they looked almost new. I will keep testing and update accordingly.
On the other hand I do not like the way shell creases or rolls. Maybe that is something that will grow on me.
