Crockett & Jones MTO Central - Page 23

Guys,
From what I heard C&J does not have lasted shoe trees. Those double springed trees are just called luxury trees but they are not lasted.

I bought a set of mens & ladies CJ shoe trees from the CJ NY boutique not too long ago.  They are both standard CJ last.  The mens were varnished hardwood trees, while the ladies were the newer non-varnished hardwood trees.

I just got an email from Lauren saying that our order has been approved by the factory and they will start making our boots.  She says it should take 8-10 weeks.  :slayer:

I got the same email. Very excited. 8 weeks would be awesome!

Hoit1981, if the winds of Zeus and his gods blow your way, you might get them for Xmas!

I got the same email, and she also said that she'd keep us updated throughout the process. I think I am going to spring for their trees, the mainline ones. The pics on their site seem to show that these are not varnished. The high end ones are definitely varnished. I just think it will make this mto that much more special.

Let's hope the gods are looking down, and favorably, on this MTO.

Also, saw this today. EG whiskey cordo. Hopefully a similar shade to C&J nod[1].gif

Whats the approximate price point on these EG derby's, millions of yen I'm sure.

One of my dream makeups would be a whiskey Alderley on 888 or 82 last.

Whiskey harlech will tide me over till then and maybe a whiskey islay if that's in the cards for an mto.

Maybe ¥200,000? Give or take a few tens of thousands of course.

Getting past the obvious beauty of the EG shells how do they compare in overall comfort to say a Vass or a C&J handgrade make-up? Just axing a question.

Trees are also supposed to keep the shape of the shoe too, so I guess that is their purpose.

Yeah, this is the main purpose. I would have thought that lasted cedar trees would be the best option though, as they would absorb moisture and keep the shape.

I have some Crock RL loafers that have finished trees specifically shaped for the shoz.  Dark Mahogany wood with brass knobs on each tree.  Free with purchase.  Oh wait, that was eons ago.  I doubt they deal with trees anymore.
