I never had cordovan before so I am planning on wearing these through adverse conditions to see if cordovan is really what is cracked up to be.

I have worn shell cordovan boots through rain, snow, freezing rain, and salty slush--sometimes on the same day. They can definitely take the punishment. One does have to remember to maintain them, though.

looking forward to this boot. Love the Harlech. No funds at the moment for shell.

Hopefully someone gets it who also has a Plaza shell captoe (or Grant maybe) as I would love to see side by side comparisons.

The Plaza shell captoe was top of my list. Maybe the Harlech is a contender?

Looking forward to all you lucky people getting their boots.

Would be interested to see the various Shell options that C&J offer.

I'm trying to figure out whether I can spring for these - need to try on a few things I have coming in the next few days to see what works and what doesn't. Will hopefully be in, but only if it's the original concept with the ridgeway sole. I love this concept.

in some pictures on the net the ridgeway to much bulky than others

here is the Coniston with the ridgeway

i *think*a lower profile option would be the medway

forgive my participation : ( i will be def. be getting fitted for this last (and the conway) next time i get into their store though.

I also really like the idea of the Ridgeway. Seems less bulky than the C&J commando - seems to have a decent profile.

If budapest12 is in (and you should be dude - when will you have another chance ;-) that makes 4... Would be so nice to get another couple in for this and get the ball rolling.

Visited C&J NYC just now. Boy, the staff in there are grumpy. It really was quite a gloomy atmosphere. I managed to try on the 341 last. Here are my various sizes (for reference):

Brannock - 13D
Alden Barrie - 12.5D
Alden Leydon - 13E
C&J 325 (Marlow wingtip) - 13D (US Sizing)
C&J 341 (Brecon ankle boot) - 12E (UK Sizing)

Just so we're clear, we are going to need to know our C&J 341 UK sizes to place this order. It certainly seems for me that the 341 (boot) is a whole size down from the Brannock, meaning that a 13D (Brannock) equates to a C&J 12E (341 UK). I hope that helps?!

Also, I also got hold of their cordovan swatches (see below). From left to right are whiskey, burgundy, dark brown and black. Face swatch is not a cordovan color. I actually quite like the whiskey - it's quite a lot darker than Alden's. I believe I captured the actual colors pretty well...

I was in there a few weeks ago. Glum, joyless, one employee who was disdainful and neglectful. This when the place was otherwise empty.

Place was completely empty when I entered - felt like a tomb. Chubby guy (maybe south American / Caribbean) and an Asian lady were working the floor. Asian lady didn't knowledge my being there once. As chubby guy was taking the shoes off my feet a respectable older couple (I was wearing jeans and Alden chukkas) entered and he couldn't be finished with me any quicker. Pretty **** experience buy hey-ho, I got what I wanted.

This is why we have credit cards...

hehe, that might be true. I bought a pair of C&J Islay in burgundy cordovan last season, so there's other spots in the shoe wardrobe, rather than cordovan boots I need to buy at the moment hehe.

Might be the same chubby guy. I felt highly unwelcome and will not return there unless I have to.
