@Namor I believe the primary reason is to break in the soles on carpet so you don't prematurely wear out the toes of the sole on pavement. This way the shoe has a little more bend and flex in it than straight out of the box and the front of the sole will be less likely to drag.

Hoit .. I can't thank you enough .. exquisite boots. I love the fact they are a dark Whiskey. They are darker than my Whiskey Harvard's. Mine have a tiny toe mark as well .. and a little dark dye missing on a welt (easy fix). Built like Fort Knox. Wife thinks they are handsome .. Loved that response:embar: thanks for the inspiration .. It was crazy easy dealing with C & J btw

My new favorite boot for sure. Thanks again everyone for being a part of it and extra thanks to you Hoit for getting it going.

Great "office shot" marroyo. Having seen the well aged leather swatch in store these boots will get better and better.

I don't regret not getting in on this order because having been fitted for the 341 I know I would have sized wrong, which in these circumstances is a bit of a relief - it would have been horrible.

Congratulation @hoit1981 . I have been a quiet lurker in this thread. Although this make-up really interested me, I couldn't make the jump because I don't have C&J sizing experience. But I've been following he thread and developments. Happy for everyone who participated since the shoes are exquisite and C&J's production seem to be consistent. I am envious. Need to do my homework for future opportunities. Happy wearing.

The more I look at these Harlechs, the more I think a Harlech in dark brown scotch grain, with storm welt, Dainite sole and all eyelets would look amazing. Christ on a bike I love these boots!

I am in for that for sure

that sounds good to me. would def get some good use out of a boot like that in the winter.

i have a pair of monktons in the dark brown scotch grain with storm welt and dainite sole and i love the combo.

def think it'd be a hit on the harlech.

My vote still goes for a Gianni on Danite or possibly that Cheviot in Whiskey or Brown shell, but I would prefer the Cheviot with a leather sole.

Yeah, navy shell Gianni over Dainite would get my vote.
(Plus I've already got a dark brown scotch grain capote boot. )
