Do you guys ever stare out your window waiting for the delivery guy, and then nonchalantly NOT pounce on the door when he arrives?

Hitting f5 to refresh this thread just isn't as satisfying as a tracking page.

Yes indeed I am on the east cost, I am in not in position to take better pictures, they look awesome this is my first pair of shell shoes. I realty wish I remembered to request an extra pair of laces.

laufer, congrats to you on your first pair of shell. Man, you didn't hold back on your first pair, did you? Went for it with gusto! I wonder if you're the first and only one to receive theirs today? I've been checking the mail every day since Thursday just hoping. Now it will be Monday (I hope).

And yes, it would have been nice if tracking numbers had been sent out. That wasn't a very cool thing to do to these "crack starved monkeys".

Man, I just went back through this thread to refresh my memory of what C&J's whiskey shell looked like and wow! I am really anxious to receive my boots!! Take a look at Namor's post (#104). He shows a C&J loafer in their whiskey shell. Great patina. This is pretty much a grail boot for me.

Hoit, glad you posted those pics of the shell swatches after visiting the NY store. It was from then that we morphed this MTO to become a whiskey Harlech. I will thank you more profusely when I receive the boots. And maybe even

I'm still 100% down for a whiskey Cheviot.

depending on how C&J responds to my recent McCallum quality inquiry, I'd be down.

proactively, how do most take the Cheviot in relation to alden barrie?

TIA

No I did not hold anything back :) this was a too good of opportunity to pass on. Harlech was on my wish list the first time I saw it in the C&J catalog. We all deserve to be congratulated on getting this going, initially I was interested in dark brown version but how often will I be able to purchase whiskey shell from one of premier makers for such reasonable price?
It is a irony that I am the first to receive them. I am off to go skiing so these will be in storage for a couple of weeks. Anyways now there are dirty baker's dozen of us so if we meet on the streets the code word is "SF Harlech"

.Great choice for your very first shell

So based on what you've seen based on this pair do you think you'll be purchasing more shoes or boots in shell in the future.

Sounds interesting, first I think I've heard of this term being used with shell. But then again almost everybody has their own names for their various different colors. I have a walnut shell boot from Rider Boot Co, and a caramel shell shoe from Rancourt. The actual color of both is about the same though. I can't remember now what color they called my boot from St Crispins but if it were from Alden it would be called Cigar.

Anyway I hope to get a green shell fairly soon, and I will more than likely get a navy eventually.

Based on how the 335 cordovan Skye 2 fit me vs #8 LWB - I would suggest a whole size down from Barrie ie a 9D Barrie I would suggest an 8E in C&J 335 last. I.E the 335 fits half a size large. It is (like Barrie / TruBalance) a wide / high volume last.
