Crockett & Jones Harlech MTO - Whiskey Cordovan - UPDATE 09/25/13 - Page 72
Styleforum Top Picks
X-post from the EG thread:
Since the heather gorse is suddenly back on the table (at least for a few boots), I'm trying to drum up interest for the following Galway make up:
- A heather gorse/suede combo
- Shearling lining
- Veldtschoen construction (which is also to say: last 64)
- Ridgeway soles
For the suede combo I'm thinking mocha suede will be good, but I'm open to suggestions. Here's a photo of the heather gorse next to coffee, mocha and mink suede (left to right).
If interested, please let me know. I've sent out an email to all who showed interest a couple of month ago.
PS: initially seven people showed interest, so get here quick before we place the order.
I want to express my thanks to those who initiated the Zug Boot idea, those who educated us all on the Zug Leather, and those who actually contacted the tanneries about the possibility of getting the leather.
I will probably miss a few names, but it is certainly not my intention to do so. But anyway thanks to @CTBrummie for the education, and to @lauferfor checking on the availability of the leather. I think you both also contacted various shoemakers, and for doing so thank you. I'm not certain how much you had to do with Skoaktiebolaget being able to pull this off with Edward Green, but if nothing else you both kept this dream alive and I'm sure this at least helped made this possible. Thank you. I think this is going to be one heck of a fabulous boot.
I'm sorry if I missed this somewhere but when was the last time Edward Green made a boot out of Heather Gorse, and did this use to be a more common configuration for EG at some point in time?

Congrats to all those who got in on the makeup. It will be exciting to see the pictures and I am quite happy for those of you junkies who loll about 24/7 on SF and, when word came in, swooped in like vultures during the approximately 38 seconds this GMTO was open. (I was one of them, but declined to participate. )
NOW THEN, to anyone who might still be interested in putting together a C&J snowdon (not in zug, not mentioning zug, not even discussing, ever, ever, ever, EVER, the possibility of holding out and finding some way to have it done in zug) with a mock toe, I, for one, am interested. Spring is coming and time is not of the essence, but I am putting this out there. Those who wanted the zug (which we are not, btw, going to discuss, in case I didn't mention it), and missed out, could see this as a possible consolation prize, and one with a lower price tag, if nothing else.
Ok, ok, if there is some zug, maybe we can make that work…
