When you say "AP thing going on" I suppose that you mean the Royal Oak. Its not surpising since the designer for the original Royal Oak and the Nautilus was one and the same person - Gerald Genta. He had a strong bias towards baton motifs on the hands and markers along with octoganal references to the case design.
Yes I did. I associate all AP's with the horrid Royal Oak design. Interesting fact though. Thanks for that.
The original Royal Oak was a stunning design. Very balanced in its proportions. I think its both classic and iconic, making it instantly recognisable. Unfortunately the Royal Oak Offshore is more of the abomination that you refer too. It sits too high on the wrist, making the bazel a scratch magnet.
