Two new arrivals that I saw at my local Torneau the other day that have peaked my interest: New Omega Speedmaster Legend

And the new reissue of the Heuer Monaco

When you say "AP thing going on" I suppose that you mean the Royal Oak. Its not surpising since the designer for the original Royal Oak and the Nautilus was one and the same person - Gerald Genta. He had a strong bias towards baton motifs on the hands and markers along with octoganal references to the case design.

Yes I did. I associate all AP's with the horrid Royal Oak design. Interesting fact though. Thanks for that.

That might just be the sweetest pic of them all.

The original Royal Oak was a stunning design. Very balanced in its proportions. I think its both classic and iconic, making it instantly recognisable.

Unfortunately the Royal Oak Offshore is more of the abomination that you refer too. It sits too high on the wrist, making the bazel a scratch magnet.

Admittedly, I've never seen an original design. But the current offerings, with the giant exposed screws and huge case, are awful.

That's not a Monaco, it's a Silverstone. And I badly want one (tried it on at Torneau a couple of weeks ago when I was in Atlanta). Better-looking than the Monaco, IMO, although I also like that watch. Then again, I'm a sucker for cool '70s design in general, not just for watches.
