Great Classic watch. I really like the patina on the markers.

I agree--it is a lot of money to spend.

For ~$13k I would rather purchase some gently pre-owned items like a JLC Master Ultra Thin (~5k), Rolex Submariner (~4k), Omega Speedmaster Professional (~3k) and call it a day for my watch collection--with give or take $1k left over to boot. I'd also end up with a full range of wardrobe options (dress/dive/chrono) rather than some random watch that only looks good when matched up with the interior of my car.

Or I'd just go in the opposite direction altogether and get one beautiful Patek, VC or ALS.

You can pick up a pre-loved Lange & Sohne - Lange 1 for about $13,000, hard for anything else to compete with this option on a 'value for money basis' fight[1].gif

The taste in watches here is laughable.

So, JLC is the trend now?

The fact that Zenith is liked here makes this thread lose credibility.

+1 and I do like JLC and Zenith. it's not the trend... it's just being talked about b/c of the release of the 1931 models. since your "ThatGuy" what gives? having a JLC is just SO gauche you wouldn't be caught dead wearing one? for fuck's sake two pages ago someone was j.o. on a U-Boat!

Allow me to put that into perspective:

I have a GP as well and love some of their work (not the one pictured however)... it's a nice watch for sure, but it's not such to legitimize disdain for another equally nice watch. So to be honest, I'm not benefiting from the "perspective".

OK - it seems you have some views here and feel confident expressing them, what are your Hall of Famers ?

huh? What do you mean HOFers? I get a distinct feeling of a loaded question in your post. I'm not purporting to be an expert and I'm also not trying to one-up on the "which brand is better" question that is, at a certain point, asinine. I just didn't understand dissing JLC and Zenith as if he's driving a Maybach and I'm in a Kia. And for a GP. It's a nice watch but nothing that could certainly be considered the best f'g watch on planet earth. PP better than VC? L&S better than Glashutte. JLC better than IWC? These differentiations are not absolute and based on different characteristics inherent to the particular watch and those that are important to the owner. However, at a certain point calling out one brand as shite and another as the best is just f'g dumb. Beatles or Stones? Zeppelin or The Who? Silk or cashmere? Lakers or Celtics? c'mon man....
