Khal, there's no need to listen to me, I know little. But I do know that for $4,000 there are a hell of a lot of awesome things around if you're happy to go used/vintage.

Maybe if you spell out some preferences and/or red lines e.g. dress or sport, maximum or minimum size, bracelet or strap, preferences in colour etc? T

New:

But I'm assuming you like a bigger watch based on what you said before, so:

For an alternative to the Tag you suggested, maybe a Zenith El Primero.

But for something less obvious and sporty, but still big and modern, I'd refer back to the suggestions I made to Frilly above: the Nomos Zurich Weltzeit is a really unusual and distinctive watch, and just bumps against the top of your budget. A grand cheaper are the other Nomos Zurich options, which I think are very cool in the blue, brown and original no-date versions. There's a cool anthracite version to complete the set.
But you said try used, so here we go.

Otherwise, a brand that stood out to me in this price range is IWC. A pilot watch might suit your sporty taste and is quite fashionable these days. Or for something different, the Ingenieur is the original anti-magnetic watch, in case you're an X-Man.
Thanks-appreciate the wisdom. I wish the budget was alot higher because I have seen some beautiful watches on this thread.

I have the Omega Speedmaster ST 375.0054
, white dial chrono but have no qualms with another chronograph.

because i dont have a watch collection and would like this to be more of a daily in rotation with the above.

I would like a leather strap, maybe a darker dial to have a different look. Nothing too small. Some of the above mentioned were too small. Im thinking 38-42?

A watch that can be worn with a suit or casual on jeans. I could have taken an easier route and just bought a watch based on looks from a fashion co but want something to say, oh, he may know something about watches....even though I dont.

As for your suggestions, i liked the Zenith El Primero the most followed by the IWC

Not sure how I feel about the Nomos style yet

Now how's that for service, eh?  Got to hand it to the man for keeping his eye on the game; someone give him a raise!  He sells even when he's lazing on the net!

:nodding: gots to be on my game, brosephson.

Stitch I love the strap. I have mine with white stitching and I love it with the dark stitching

Good looking strap, and top notch quality too.  Make the watch pics happen soon.

- I wish the budget was alot higher because I have seen some beautiful watches on this thread.

- A watch that can be worn with a suit or casual on jeans.

- I liked the Zenith El Primero the most followed by the IWC

- Not sure how I feel about the Nomos style yet

- That is there the trouble starts!

- A lot of people wear sports watches with suits these days. My personal view is that if you're doing something serious, it's good to have a "quieter" dress watch

- Well, keep looking and get something you love. Which IWC? I'll take a wild guess at the Pilot! And why not? I think it's wearable with anything. Maybe that's better as it's so different from what you have.

- For a clean dress watch that's big and modern (40mm) I love it, but if it doesn't sing to you, don't bother. I'm an old fart next to you I imagine; one man's simple is another man's boring!

Wow, nice strap watch combo.

This. I totally agree. I don't mind a sports watch with an odd jacket and it can look ok with the suit as long as it isn't too big.

"Don't even care" is always an option. But I'd say three more things in mitigation of your 112:

- you often seem to wear an odd jacket for a "business casual" style, at work

- you are of sufficient manly proportion that it doesn't look silly

- it is, although huge, a simple two-handed watch after all

But anyway, you like it, and not feeling the need to justify yourself is perfectly stylish.

:) all true!

also, even though i i have no issue wearing the 112 with a suit, i do usually wear it with a SC and trou, or chinos and casual wear. generally i wear my JLC with a suit as i feel it is more congruous, but it has been "in the shop."
