while I absolutely love it, the story behind it is trouble
my wife got me a watch for my birthday soon after we got married. It was a nice tissot, but I had another watch just like it and after some discussion, returned it and upgraded to the GP
It's the last time she's ever tried to buy something for me and never lets me forget

Someone shoot me. I'm so depressed. Maybe I'll just wear a G Shock from now on.

I was winding a guitar cable up and the pointy metal tip of one end decided it hated my watch, so it flung itself at my wrist and smashed directly into the crystal. I'm sure I can get the crystal replaced (I hope) but the dial itself is dinged and scratched as well.

The crystal should be easy as those can be had NOS usually, but the dial is a more difficult case. It would probably have to be refinished.

I'm surprised the crystal is mineral glass. For these watches, the plastic dome shaped crystal can take a lot of punishment due to the case design. They are not as resistant to surface scratches and but won't be easily shattered like mineral glass and sapphire in these kinds of impact. Like LK said, crystal = cheap replacement. Dial, OTOH, may be difficult. Good luck with it.

I took it to my watchmaker. He called around and found one place that MAY have a replacement crystal, but I'd have to send the watch to them to be certain. I said forget it, just put a plastic one on, I'll probably shatter another freaking crystal one. I'll live with the dial, it's barely noticeable. So, not good as new, but good enough to move on with my life. Maybe I'll console myself with a new timepiece.
