The Datograph appears to trump the 5070 on every conceivable level, except perhaps that of history.

Never heard of Vianney Halter before. But I like De Bethune, but aren't there watches pretty expensive 50k + ? Or is there cheap models aswell?Any fans of Vianney Halter or De Bethune here ?

The only issue with magnetization was my wife Cartier Tank Francaise. She worked in a hospital and her department was near the MRI machines. We briefly considered getting her something antimagnetic, or letting her wear my Oysterquartz ref 17000, which is highly antimagnetic. However once they moved her department to another part of the building, magnetization was no longer an issue. I think if you wore a more modern watch you may have fewer issues even if its not specifically anti-magnetic. Short of the MRI department issue, ...phones, computers, etc have never affected any of our watches, none of which are specifically anti-magnetic.
I work close to an MRI machine and haven't had a problem.
Handle both, pictures can only give you a limited impression. I've handled both, and I've always thought the Datograph which has a great movement is nice, but it is cold and soul-less. As for B's point...its simply opinion.I havent handled either the 5070 or the Datograph ... the 5070, it just doesnt seem to have much soul. I see the point B is making.
You definitely made the right choice!Well my vote is very biased - but the 5070 p smokes the Dato in terms of sheer beauty and design though - Lange movements are nice to look at...
But it's like comparing a Ferrari and a Lamborghini I guess
Also a Dato loses value while 5070s appreciate - that's noone faults exc ours (the consumer) but it is wht it is
And of course I had a choice - and I picked the 5070
action shot from the weekend, taken in the pool hall where they shot, the color of money.
Thanks!!! Mind you I also grabbed a 5170j love the patek chronos...Quote: Handle both, pictures can only give you a limited impression. I've handled both, and I've always thought the Datograph which has a great movement is nice, but it is cold and soul-less. As for B's point...its simply opinion.
