The Watch Appreciation Thread - Page 2063

Thanks Dino. I often think it's a shame that I now work in a more casual work place because many of my watches pair better with tailored clothing.

When did they discontinue my RO? It's still up on the website. At least AP don't cycle through models as quickly as Patek! I'm always surprised at how readily the latter change their catalogue range, swapping out even relatively popular models.

It was the first Patek I have ever had on my wrist--a really magical experience. The weight of the platinum is nice, makes it feel very substantial for a modestly sized piece.

Today was dark and rainy, but this golden sun on my wrist cheered me up considerably. I had a new rubber strap from AP installed today, the same found on the City of Sails edition. The brown leather strap was ok, but a shorter rubber strap made it much more comfortable. The butterlly clasp is totally centered now, makes all the difference.

Sorry for the dreary cellphone pic, I promise to return with better photography biggrin.gif

(But even in the rain, I'm sure you can all see the insane levels of frivolous awesomeness a rose gold Royal Oak chrono constitutes teacha.gif)

Awesome watch. Congratulations

Lol, my goal is to add, not replace. smile.gif The only watch I have in my collection that I would give up is the PAM 112 . Hmm I wonder what I could get for it on trade for an AP Diver . . .

So I decided to put my GS on the hornback. I originally bought this strap for the Sub but I found it overpowered it. Strangely enough it seems to go well with this one.

Meanwhile I guess I'll have to get a better speedlight, as the glide wheels move too fast:

Nice pairing. Any wrist shots? Where did you source the hornback from?

^^^ Love the watch - not sure I love the lumpy bumpy hornback with such an otherwise understated piece.

Yeah, strap like that belongs on something crazy, like, I don't know, some shiny ostentatious gold Royal Oak or something...smile.gif

I thought I heard someone call my name? wink.gif Thanks for the many kind words gentlemen!

Speedy fans, what are your thoughts on the new '57 Speedmaster, reviewed here? Saw one in a local watch store and was quite impressed. I like the restrained case size (41.5mm) and 2 register layout (photo lifted from Hodinkee):

I confess that a Speedy was never really on my radar before, but have reconsidered after seeing this one.
I really, REALLY like the 57. If I didn't get a 3570, I would have gotten the blue dial 57.
^^^

I think I would probably get a blue-dialled one, too if I were to buy one. I also like the titanium on a leather strap. I find the normal 3 register Speedy a bit too busy.

I think the 3570 is perfection outside of the 3 lines of text, so we'll have to disagree on that one.
