In all seriousness, I don't think Panerai cares about that. I suspect it's more a case of replacing the 'cheap' entry level models with their new and more expensive in-house offerings (sad, IMO). And it seems that there are no other base Radiomirs to take over from the 210; not that I've checked carefully - I was just surprised that they would discontinue the 210.

My thoughts exactly.

Ah yes....the iconic GDL pic!

I certainly didn't purchase my 210 as a future collectible, but hey... I'll gladly take any value retention and/or "collectibility" as a plus.

Mark Anthony: I do like that Longines as a dressy/versatile piece, especially if the price is right.

Frilly: that's a good pic...I was a BlackBerry guy for years, but I'm now using an HTC phone, and it too has a better camera. I guess RIM is really circling the drain this time.

IMO, I think its one of the best looking divers out there.  In fact, the only reason i even looked into it, was because I could not stop staring at it when watching the Lettermen Show as Bill Clinton was wearing it.

I understand the hesitation for people to accept, I guess if Im okay with knowing it has in house JLC movement and looks the way it does....good for me

If you like it and it puts a smile on your face, that is really all the matters.  The fact that its not a model that lots of people are in love with, might help you to negotiate a better deal on one.  Good luck with whatever you decide.

It's always great to hear good feed back from people satisfied by watch service centers.  Looks like some spa treatment has brought back its youth.

A real stunner!  Love it.  Thanks for sharing a photo, and for getting a phone that takes better pix ;)

Bill Clinton has one? Another reason to look at other models.

Oh God, now we've done it...politics has infiltrated the TWAT....

Next thing we will be debating whether the shutdown should be meaured using a Daytona, Datograph or PP Perpetual Calendar...

No way to PP perpetual calendar.  These crappy things don't even have a seconds hand, WTF.  Well, except the 5059 and other retrograding date function pieces.  But you get what I mean......! :)

Then again given how the government shutdown is proceeding perhaps we don't really need a seconds hand.......

If we need to measure the shutdown using a perpetual calendar we're really in trouble!

Maybe he thinks the watch is stain resistant?

So I should be going for my first non-terrible timepiece after three years of salivating - should happen sometime in the next three months. It's definitely going to be an older piece with no complications, probably e-thrifted off the bay. Trying to get the best movement I possibly can for under 750... any suggestions? I've been looking mostly at older JLCs / LeCoultres, but a few old pieces by Piaget (occasionally dip that low), Longines, and Omega are also catching my eye. Any other suggestions?

Am I on drugs? Yesterday I saw a watch, JLC I think, that had what had to be a 1/10 of a second subdial counter. Could that be? The needle was jumping around like crazy and I could barely keep from having a seizure. What was it? .

Agreed - the PAM210 and similar are really the only Panerais that I like.

To me, the larger ones are just too big and cumbersome, and they take up almost the entire top of my wrist (and my wrist isn't that small). I tried on a PAM233 or PAM240 a while back and it felt like I was wearing a dashboard chronometer on my arm!
