The Blancpain is beautiful. Unfortunately the day/month function is too small for my damn eyes. I stick to big or time only these days. Sucks, but saves $$$!

Just recently looked at a ref 5513( mid 80s I believe) however it does not illuminate at all and the bezel doesn't turn at all. Wondering if perhaps that make; the bezel doesn't turn and the age of the tritium has made it not illuminate. On a side note I came across this from a reputable dealer before crying fake.

Leftwing37 - Vintage (Or old Rolex) is a minefield, read a little on the production numbers and you can see why. A, with the amount of watches Rolex produced B, the amount of really excellent copies (fakes) about - and in some case the two have mixed!
Its not unusual for a watches of that age to lose its lum (its almost 30 years) or even the bezel to seize but yes in any doubt leave it out!
Great to get a second opinion or even better Rolex authentication. Safe hunting!

I echo your thoughts Cyclon in regards to the Senator Automatic. I know it is kind of silly, but I just don't know if I would turn to GO for a 'standard' 3-hand watch. The Senator Automatic is gorgeous, don't get me wrong, but if I was to go for GO I would probably get the PML, or something from the Sixties or Seventies collection. The Senator Automatic definitely still has that GO DNA that Cyclon was speaking of, which I do like.

And Apropos, in regards to moonphases similar to the JLC MUT Moon, have you considered the BP Villeret Moonphase? And Cyclon, I think Apropos may have meant bigger as in relation to the size of the watch itself, i.e. comprising a greater %age of it. My interpretation could be wrong, of course. I feel like with the BP the moonphase is really the focal point, which I like.

One of my favorites in the price range.

And in regards to LUC Chopard... My god they have some beautiful watches. I have never really been fond of Chopard or skeletonized watches, but the one I saw yesterday... *swoon.*

i honestly dislike the new villeret with the bigger roman numerals. they are a good deal tho on the second hand market. i think one can even spring for a vintage 34mm perpetual in yellow gold for just a little more on a new ss moonphase..

Thanks guys for the recommendations, can't decide if I should go for the MUT 39mm MP or the USA 1931 Reverso. Decisions!

I had the same dilemma--and damn it's tough.

Have you tried them on?

Also, I can't believe I forgot to mention the Girard Perregaux 1966 collection. It's very similar to the MUT MP.

^ thanks, i no longer have it, sadly- took it in a trade but ended up feeling it was just too dressy for my day to day streetwear. it's a stunning watch, i would certainly recommend it if you want a moonphase.
