The girl has got some serious... talent. I am glad someone caught that smile.gif.

And that Patek is gorgeous. Tough choice between it and Miss Teen Delaware.

Dino944, that's exactly what I thought when I visited Orlando last week.  So here's a pic with Beauty, the Beast, and Belle.  That's counterclockwise, from the bottom.

well, prelim investigation shows me that IWCs from the late 60s early 70s had dials with both the initials and the full name, on the dial. ill probably list it on ebay for work, and knowing my boss he will try for 3k, which i think is too much. id imagine we end up getting somewhere in the low to mid 2k range for it.

just a prelim tho. will let you know when we actually decide.

That IWC looks like an early Portofino (or a Portofino precursor) from the 80's. Many of which had IWC in caps above two lines of cursive script. (The Portofino line is from '84.)

thanks, K. the font certainly is not like ones i found from the 60s/70s, so you are probably right. i imagine the pricing i mentioned will still be the same though.

Some enamel guilloche dial action...

From afar, the dial looks like normal lacquer, either purple or blue depending on light.

But get it under a spotlight, and the subtleties of the fired enamel dial glisten marvelously.

The hands are also three-faceted for excellent legibility.

On the back is a manufacture movement with bespoke engraving of my family seal, and a personal dedication.

Interesting, even has "IV" instead of "IIII"!

I'm considering trading my Glashutte Navigator toward an IWC Portuguese Auto.  However, I already have a Vintage Inge Laureus edition.  Do you think that this is a bad move because the watches are too similar?  I also have a Seamaster and a Montblanc dress watch, so my collection isn't huge.

Any input appreciated.

Dino, honest question: at what point does the originator lose to other factors for you for watches? Just curious, because as with most things, watches are related to one another in design aspects. The preference for the Lange makes sense outside of the "originator" factor, so that discussion is less interesting to me.

Here's my IWC from 1969 - if only I had aged so well:

And my wife's comparatively young 10 year old Portofino:

Say hi to my old high school as you pass through. When are you arriving in Philly to purchase the RDM? devil.gif

The reason I chose Delaware was actually from Wayne's World: "Or, imagine being magically whisked away to... Delaware.......Hi. I'm in... Delaware." Figured it reflected Dino's opinion of the GO Pano series accurately.

Arriving in Philly on Saturday I think. We are in Wilmington for the week. If I come home with an RDM, it will not be the result of a purchase!

Got it--clearly I need to re-watch Wayne's World!
