If it pays 50% return like the Rolex deal above, I'm happy to invest icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Some people can spend ages selecting the tie for the day - I need a couple of mintues each morning choosing a timepiece for meeting the challenges and adventures of the day. smile.gif

As you may notice, my preferences lean heavily towards the 50's and 60's, which IMO offers some of the best value and style for both casual and formal wristwear.

Its not really one of my dream watches, but it lookd really sharp in platinum with a blue dial.  Funny thing, I can remember one dealer I used to do business with had one in yellow gold and he had trouble selling it when they were new.  Most of his customers wanted round watches, and many of his customers it didn't appreciate it as much as some of the more (dare I say) "Common" Pateks of the day such as the annual calendar and the 5054.  I didn't have much of an interest in dress watches at the time, I was more interested in sportier watches.

For those with experience with alligator straps, assuming daily wear, how long can one reasonably expect a strap to last before replacement?

there is no real answer to that imo. it depends on how much you sweat/do things that would make you sweat while wearing the watch, and the quality of the leather. not all straps are created equal.
