Tak. The strap is dark brown cordovan from Leffot in NYC, which I got an IWC tang buckle for. Here it is worn with the original black buffalo strap (w/ deployant clasp) and on a black NATO:





I'm sorry if these are too close up to give a real sense of how it wears relative to the the wrist, but in my experience it wears similarly to a 40mm sub, due to the larger dial and an identical lug to lug lenght of 47mm.

while we're on the subject though, a friend has proposed a trade: my speedy for his iwc 3717 (the older, 42mm version). i admit i've always had a soft spot for that watch. would you do it?

I have been considering the XV vs the XVI for a long time and the strap vs bracelet, hopefully it is possible to have both a strap and a bracelet and able to switch from time to time.
Could i perhaps get you to take a few more from a slighty longer distance, so i am able to see how it wears on your wrist.

As for strap vs bracelet, I believe the one they make for these watches is very highly regarded but it's also quite costly (at least 10K DKK) and as I much prefer this kind of watch on a strap I chose to skip it. You can indeed change between the strap and bracelet. As for Mark XV vs XVI, if you look a bit at the history of the design (if that kind of thing matters to you at all) you may find a preference for the XV and older models.


Not for a 3717, but I might for a 3706. But it would be a hard choice as the speedy and that are probably my favourite chronos.

I would. the bracelet on that is one of the best and most comfortable bracelets ive worn. gorgeous watch.

Noooooo. while i like the 06, the 17 is just a better looking watch. the dial is a huge improvement, and the hands on the 17 are tops. also, in terms of cost, the 06 can be had for much less money than a 17. ive seen the 06 for under 3K quite a bit.
