I saw some lighter ones at Leffot & Alden (whisky or cognac I guess) and while they looked spectacular on their own, I've found that I don't get a lot of wear out of lighter coloured straps - obviously YMMV. Congrats on your new mk XV and please post pics when you've put it on the shell strap.
That's the burgundy shell, right? This is a pretty basic dark brown...

Will do.

No problem. Nice Explorer II you've got there.

I owned the speedbird, and I did not like it. First of all, my dial was slightly defective (enough that you could see it with the naked eye) and Eddie promised to send me a replacement dial. He never did. Also, the C3 did not look good against the black. Mine also came unregulated, and ran about a minute fast a day.

Finally after 10 months of waiting I received word from Dornbluth that my 99.1 was completed. Any suggestions on strap color? Below is the watch face and the strap options. I have also posted more detailed pictures of the insides of the watch underneath the spoiler tags. I am leaning towards the middle strap or the second in from the left.

Yup, its navy. Sorry for the huge pictures, not sure how to resize.

I love that Dornie. How much did it run you, if you do not mind me asking?

And I would choose one of the two straps on the left.

First or second strap on the L. Second from the R might be interesting.

Thanks GDL & Kapp for your feedback re: the cordovan strap. I should have mentioned that the buckle would have of course been replaced by a thumbnail one. smile.gif

Tried some H. Mosers today - classically proportioned conservative looking watches. Anyone have any experience with them?

Also tried a Lange 1 in WG - new watch to save my pennies for! Would also swap strap for a honey croc with grey stitching. icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

The 99.1 in stainless steel runs about $4,000

Wear all of those straps but I agree the two on the left appeal to me the most.

Nice watch.

Really? Interesting. I guess the price on Watchbuys is significantly more expensive. I am guessing you went through Dirk & Dieter themselves?

axelman - I'd get first or second one from left. I'd also get the grey one for when you want a change, you'd be surprised how great it will look
