What did you get? Or would you like to keep it a surprise for the big reveal?

Myke - Nice watch, have been considering getting one of those myself soon.

Is that the normal size or the large size Planet Ocean?

Normal size 42mm

I have small wrists, so the 45.5mm model would have looked HUGE

As for the number of jewels being relevant to the quality of the movement (Hope this isn't old news for everybody in this thread

) -- I recall there is a certain minimum number of key points which definitely benefit from being jewelled (I think it's 17 for a 3-hand watch without complications). Extra jewels do help to reduce wear and tear, but the returns are quite diminished -- they just show special attention on the part of the manufacturer, and massage the WIS-spot.

... and then you move on to the HEQ world where exotic concepts like fly-by-wire movements remove the link between jewels and movement quality entirely... such a wonderfully complicated hobby.

I guess the crown is hidden by the minutes hand. It's a cousin of singular's watch. Old rolex oyster with yellowish patina dial. It was a gift to my wife but I sometimes borrow it despite the small case size. Interestingly, this strap is made out of camel hide - it's a leather that gets a deep and rich patina - probably faster than any leather I've seen.
