Picked up this 16550 a bit impulsively this weekend. Pretty special watch as far as I can tell, I just couldn't walk away from it.

Nice find. Very cool piece of Rolex history with a rather short production run. The white dial version (which is famous for turning cream color) is talked about far more often as it has more differences in appearance compared to a white dial successor 16570. In addition to the different bezel engravings the white dial 16550 had white gold hands and hour markers. On the 16570 the hands and hour markers were outlined in black for greater contrast, and its production run was much longer. Only the bezel of the black 16550 seems visually different from the black dial 16570. Still great find and I would definitely prefer a black 16550 to a cream/white 16550. Again great find, enjoy it!
Which of these two do you prefer?

Maybe blasphemy here, but I'd prefer neither. They are one of my least favorite Pateks in recent years. But if I had to choose it would be the top one, I prefer the blue on the dial.
well I was able to try on a few different APs this weekend....at starbucks

I absolutely loved the 15400. Fantastic watch. However, the Diver REALLY felt nice to me. I was able to work out a sweet deal that ended up costing me nothing out of pocket so it was almost impossible to say no

Congrats!!! Great find and a great deal. Love the Scuba. Looks like it was delivered on a strap. If it doesn't have the bracelet I'd call AP and look into ordering one. It looks great on a strap...but I love it on a bracelet! Again congrats Bro...awesome watch!!!

NoFrills inspired, but with a different twist.

Blue on Blue Combo.

Nautilus blue dial, with Edward Green Sandringham Midnight Navy Shell.

Another vote for the blue dial World Time, although if I were a player on that level, I'd probably go platinum 5130 with the circular/scissor-style hour hand.

And more congrats to Derek...looks like a nice pickup.

Call AP in NYC to verify. I've seen them on bracelets. So unless your Scuba is a specific model for which a bracelet does not fit, you should be able to get one. Either way, great freakin watch. Nice to see some AP Love here!
