I do love the watch in itself, and the surrounding ad campaign even more! Don't get me wrong, I do love my Apple products and have nothing against Apple per se, but I personally wouldn't buy the Apple watch. Still, I find the Moser pretty appealing, especially with the (typical Moser) beautiful dial color!

Love that dial. Movement looks pretty great too. If I had FU money I'd definitely buy that as an FU watch for fun. But in general, I just really like how they executed the dial and case in terms of what they were going for, kind of impressive really.

I can think how awesome it would be to spend $25k on that and have people ask if it it's an Apple Watch and where did I download the face from... ;)

I like it, but not the price smile.gif

I thought that was a joke when I saw Hodinkee post about it on their Instagram but 50 pieces to mock a watch?

Some people say Tesla's goal as a company is not to be a car company but and energy company.  In the same vein, I think the same can be said that the point of the AppleWatch is not to be a watch but a lot more (I think I have mentioned this a few times before).  Plus if people think the AppleWatch is going to fail, why the hell would you copy it?

Such different watches, and there are already many posts about each in this thread.  They are so drastically different that a comparison is probably not all that useful or necessary.  I love the RO and I love the Daytona.  The best thing to do is try each on, see how they fit you, and go with the watch really puts the biggest smile on your face.  If they both do, then buy one, and put the other on your list of "Must haves."  Good luck!

Sorry, like JBarwick, I initially thought it was a joke.  The best thing about this watch is the ad campaign.

Personally, I don't love the Apple Watch case design, so a high end watch that looks like one isn't appealing to me.  Beyond that, I just do not understand spending $25,000 for a watch that looks like a $600 Apple watch?  I wouldn't spend $300,000 to drive a Ferrari that has an exterior that is a near copy of a Nissan Maxima.  If I'm buying a  Ferrari I want it to look like a Ferrari, and if I'm buying a Moser I want it to look like a Moser.

Obviously, I knew when posting that this watch would either get love it or hate it comments. It's all good! On a side note, I don't think it is aimed toward the general public but more at the seriously wealthy collectors who would appreciate to spend 25k for a limited edition watch that has a certain cool factor to it.

There's many more H. Moser models that I'd choose over this one, but if money was burning a hole in my pockets and my other watch "needs" were fulfilled, then why the hell not?

:D

Well after all my Daytona talk, I have to go with the Rollie. At the end of the day, it is really a matter of what you want to pay for; the complication of the Daytona or the hand finishing of the AP. A lot of it would depend on what else one has in their collection. When I think of hand finishing I think dress watches not sport watches so that inches me one way, but everyone places different values on everything.

On a related note, I prefer the proportions of the 15300 vs the 15400 so that'd be a closer fight to me. I feel the movement looks small in the case of the 15400, and the watch in general just wears a little less comfortably. I still think its a great piece and wouldn't make a bad choice at all. Good luck!

I think it's a very strange thing for anyone to do. How this turns out depends on whether the design of the Apple watch is protected and, if it is, whether Apple cares enough to do anything about it. It wouldn't surprise me if Jony Ive bought one. Plagiarism on this scale is a pretty sincere form of flattery.

On the other hand, one could compare Moser to Samsung (a stretch, I'll admit), but why not spend the resources expended making this copy of an Apple product and come up with something original? They surely aren 't that bereft of ideas?

The Moser is not a million miles away in design style from the Nomos Lux at half the price.

I'd imagine they might sell this watch, at only 50 pieces, more easily than any of their other designs/lines. While it's not "original" I'd argue it is pretty "clever". They offer plenty of original designs which don't seem to sell particularly well judging by prices you can find them for around the web.

I don't really have a stake in this one way or the other, but I don't think this is really all that silly from a marketing stand point.

Free mainstream publicity for "Old-Timey $25K Apple Watch Lookalike", plus a decent chance that some wealthy tech people in San Francisco will buy and wear them.

Perhaps. I still think it represents a paucity of imagination.

I remember seeing the 18k gold Apple Watch and thinking "who the hell would buy that?" And here's Moser charging more than double the price, for a time-only piece.

In the Moser's defence, it won't stop working next year when they give you a compulsory software "upgrade" designed for the new model.

Perhaps.

As I've thought about this more today, I did wonder who would wear this, honestly? People who wear fake Rolexes or other fake watches are decried. It seems to me if you wear this Moser, you will always be asked if that is an Apple watch or how you like your Apple watch, and so on. And so you will always have to explain that it's not an Apple watch; it is, in fact, something else. A fake Apple watch, albeit one that costs a great deal of money. Perhaps, if you can afford to buy this novelty item, you would not move in circles where you will get asked this question.

Don't misunderstand me: I don't care way or the other about Moser and this watch. It won't make any difference to Apple. The only issue, to my mind, is whether or not it violates any protected intellectual property rights that Apple has. If it does, then Moser deserves to get sued. If not, well, then, good luck to them.
