Novelty: get a nearly-new 15300. The black ones tend to show up cheap, too.

Thanks for the suggestions mimo, it was a choice b/w the 15300 and a white face Daytona for me. I went for the Daytona. I think I had enough of black faced dial and chronographs hahaha...

I'll be out of the game for a while

Pictures never tell the full story of a watch but that model in particular just looks so much different (even better) in real life. Congrats, great watch.

now that the Tudor Black Bay has been out for a couple years...do you guys still think it is a good buy as first "nice" watch?

Yes.  In that a new one with in house movement will doubtless arrive, and at a higher price.  There are plenty of discounts on Black Bays right now, and I think they're gorgeous (both of them).

Only one note of caution, cf. Novelty's Lange 1 quandry: "good buy" implies that you're looking at the value, which isn't a bad thing, but does beg the question as to whether you love it in itself.  And "first" implies that you might already be thinking of the next.  As your Uncle Dino has said many times, don't ever buy a stepping stone, if that's what this is.  If it's the one that keeps you awake at night, buy it - it's lovely.  If it's the one to keep you happy while you save up for a Submariner, then skip this step and wait for the one you really want.

True-er words never spoken. Except maybe when Dino said it. :satisfied:

Understood, cchen...in the sense that you may not be purchasing anything new for some time.

But please stick around TWAT! At the very least, we can expect some more pics of your FPJ, right?!

Enjoy the honeymoon. inlove.gif

Getting ready to pull the trigger on a Submariner. I don't think I can wait much longer. Any recommended places to shop at in NYC?

I would just go to the Rolex / Wempe store on 5th. Otherwise the Tourneau on Madison.

I wouldn't expect much in the way of discounts. Good luck - hope you're going for the no date version!

Any thoughts on the Spring Drive Tuna? This is a beast, and I love it:

Paging @Hayward...

I like it too.  Along with the Ananta Moon, I think it's the most interesting and appealing of all the Spring Drives.

Incoming: blue Milgauss. Finally. Of course R introduced a price hike in the middle of my order, so had to have a serious chat with my AD but I'm happy with the final price. Pickup on Monday.

I do like the Grand Seiko SD with the snowflake dial as well, but it's certainly a different look from the Tuna,

Sometimes feeling blue is feeling pretty awesome…

Here’s wishing all of you an absolutely superlative Sunday ahead!
