Thanks.

And well spotted, I graduated with a Bachelor of Laws with Honours. Now I just need to find a nice frame for it....

I'm getting insane deal from my AD and half of the watch is being covered as milestone present from my family. My seven months old daughter will own it in the future. (Yes Frilly, I used your tactics wink.gif.

The wait begins, I have 2 people in front of me.

Congrats on the Nautilus and the baby girl (we are expecting our first in September).

Stowa is back, this time with the correct dial, but with another potential issue. Without mentioning what it is, is there anything related to this watch that would bother you?

For me it's the 5 and 7 o'clock markers. They are too slanted to accommodate the second counter.

Thanks Dino, I was afraid that I always will want 5711 and unfortunately having both, 5167 and 5711 would not be possible in the near future.

Thanks! At least a year but depends on the few people in front of me.

Well, that's a design element that I was aware of going in smile.gif. I'm referring to a potential quality control issue with this particular watch.

The only think I notice is something funny going on with the "made in Geemany", but may be a function of the edge of the crystal. Hard to tell from the pic. Am I warm??

Well, the second hand is off.

To me, it's the hour hand. Minute hand is three minutes short of the hour when the hour hand is aligned.

@Steel28 - Congrats on the 5711!  Which dial color did you choose?

Also it looks like the hour hand is in front of the hour and the minutes hand is behind.  My first interaction with the often quoted "On time like a German train" had me delayed for my first leg thus making me miss 2 connecting legs.

Yes, she's our first baby and I never knew you can love someone so much. She's the best thing that ever happened to me.

I graduated on Monday and it was an absolutely fantastic day, made even better by the graduation present my parents gave me.

I have always been a big fan of IWC's, and in particular have always been struck by the simplicity and elegance of the Portofino. Well it seems that my parents know me very well indeed, and needless to say, I am over the moon.

(also, sorry for the hasty phone picture, the camera is currently out of action)

Congratulations on graduating, and receiving that lovely timepiece from family!

Inconsistent use of additive vs subtractive numerals, specifically IIII vs IV ?

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roman_numerals
Quote:
Such variation and inconsistency continued through the medieval period and into modern times, even becoming conventional. Clock faces that use Roman numerals normally show IIII for four o’clock but IX for nine o’clock,[10][11][12] a practice that goes back to very early clocks such as the Wells Cathedral clock. This is far from being an unvarying convention; the clock in Elizabeth Tower on the Palace of Westminster in London (aka "Big Ben"), for example, uses IV.[11]

Congrats! Our second girl arrives in September. Alas there will be no new watch for some time but I'm more than fine with it. I'll enact the NO Frills "plan" for the next year. wink.gif

Blue for the winningest win.

Today, my ump-teenth wedding anniversary. More than a decade, less than two. Date night tonight means a bit of dressier wear. Reserving the trainers from @Epaulet for casual Fridays tomorrow.
