I'm getting insane deal from my AD and half of the watch is being covered as milestone present from my family. My seven months old daughter will own it in the future. (Yes Frilly, I used your tactics wink.gif.

The wait begins, I have 2 people in front of me.

That's fantastic! Good to know the Tactics(TM) worked for you (hahahah)!

Let us know when the timepiece comes in!

But more importantly than any timepiece - congratulations and best wishes on your seven month old baby girl. I have a soon to be four year old and a soon to be six year old, and as cliche as it is it's so dang true that they are growing up insanely fast. The nights can be long sometimes, but the years are unbelievably short. Cherish this time, brother! Is she your first?

Thanks a LOT!

Yes, she's our first baby and I never knew you can love someone so much. She's the best thing that ever happened to me.

I forgot to mentioned, I also confirmed Rolex new warranty policy with my AD, it's happening.

Hi everyone, I'm a long time lurker here but finally have something worth posting about.

I graduated on Monday and it was an absolutely fantastic day, made even better by the graduation present my parents gave me.

I have always been a big fan of IWC's, and in particular have always been struck by the simplicity and elegance of the Portofino. Well it seems that my parents know me very well indeed, and needless to say, I am over the moon.

(also, sorry for the hasty phone picture, the camera is currently out of action)

Damn @MDRoss, way better first post than mine! Tell your parents that they have pretty good taste! I understand you excitement!

And congrats on your degree! I can't quite read well because of the blur, you're a Bachelor of Laws?

On another note, today was a good day for me. We went on a day trip to Québec City, especially so that I could see "in the flesh" Switzerland and Canton of Jura's gift to Québec City for it's 400th anniversary; a custom-built Richard Mille clock! I must say that I have a very understanding wife - a 2h30 drive back and forth just to stand for 20 minutes in front of a clock!

You can love or hate Richard Mille's timepieces and products placement, but you have to admit that this is a serious piece of mechanical work!

For anyone interested in the history of this timepiece, you can have a look at the following link

Or watch the following video (only in French, unfortunately for you guys):

Unfortunately, due to the very sunny weather (and my lack of a polarizing filter - I took my Fuji X20 instead of my DSLR) the pictures I took are quite atrocious. We can barely see the clock behind the reflections of the sky and the surrounding building in the glass cage.

Anybody ever go to a Watchbuys Road Show?

Seems like a good chance to see some lesser known German brands.

I've been. It's about the only way possible to check out the Sinn lineup, short of traveling to the EU.

No, but I'm planning on going when they come through Chicago this Summer.  Want to try on some Sinn watches and see what I think.

Congrats on graduating and on the very thoughtful gift from your parents!  Sounds like it was a great day for you for many reasons.

I was walking past my local dealer at lunch-time today and noticed that they've got a steel-cased Universal Geneve Tri-Compax with moonphase in the window display.

AUD$4950, which translates to US$3821 or thereabouts, if anyone's interested.

(Sorry about the orientation of the pics - SF doesn't seem to like uploading pictures that are taller than they are wide.)

Heartfelt congratulations. This watch straddles the line between sport and dress in a strata of its own.
