thanks Dino, always appreciate your thoughts. Well, I have yet to see it in person but been lusting over this model for a few years now. Nautilus is my true Grail but I'm going to aim towards Aquanaut and make my decision. I'm glad I still have some time to finalize my choice. I also think that PP keeps its value a bit better vs AP, no?

My AD only get 1 or 2 each year and quite a few people want to enter PP with this model. I'm pumped.

Yes I know, it's AP vs PP but I'm starting to lean towards PP wink.gif

Remind us again which AP is the contender versus the 5167? The Aquanaut sports the least impressive finishing among the PPs; the 5167 and its "tropical dial" is much better but I have the earlier 5066/1A and I find that it really leaves much to be desired, given my expectations from a PP.

Still, friends who own a 5167 (and the recently introduced 5164A) love its lightness and feel. So YMMV. I much prefer the Nautilus line; but versus the 15202, 15300 or the 15400 I would personally choose the AP. And that's from a Patek fan who has yet to get an AP!

My two cents.

Me, but then again for me it isn't the PP 5167 or the PP 5711 or an AP 15300. For me it's all three. YMMV

WARNING pictures have been posted before.

Damn..I was hoping to hear some love towards 5167 smile.gif. I'm looking at 15400 as contender. I have a big milestone coming up next year and promised to get another special piece.

I know you have a great collection DDD! lol @ "pictures have been posted before" warning hahahha.

Now, just by looking at your pics, I love the way 5167 stands out against 15300. I'm almost passing out by looking at Nautilus lol.

I think I'd go with AP 15300 though there must be something special about putting on a PP.

The 5167 is attractive as a rubber band watch in the collection.

Thank you sir, but it's not someone else's Luv you should worry about. All you need to concern yourself with is whether you Luv it or not.

I for one do.

Sorry, but I've never been much for sugar coating things.  I just thought you should be aware that sending the watch back to the US could unintentionally result in more customs problems for you.

If the Nautilus is your true grail, (yes there is a price difference between it and a 5167), but I would rather wait save a bit more and buy the real grail, rather than spend 80% on what is second best in your mind.  I would rather wait and get what I truly wanted.  Everyone is different, but I just would never be satisfied by a substitute even a nice substitute.

As for resale, of the AP's the 15202 probably has the best resale value of the time only APs, as it is produced in much smaller numbers and even most AD's have trouble getting them. The Nautilus would have better resale value than a 15400 (the 15300 is going to be pre-owned if you go that route so the first owner would have suffered the depreciation).  However, i thought this is to mark a special occasion, so why would resale matter?   What is the point of buying something to mark a special occasion if are contemplating selling it?   My 15202 was to commemorate a special occasion, resale wasn't a consideration when I was marking a special occasion, and I love this watch to death.  Of the luxury sports watches I considered, the only one I liked almost as much was the Nautilus 5711/5712, but I gave a slight edge to the historic significance of the RO and I favor its styling a bit.  However, I could be very happy adding a 5711 or 5712 some day.

DDDrees nailed it!!!  Buy the watch YOU love!!!  If you love a watch, and its your dream watch then it should not matter what any of us think of it.  Whether you decide to buy a PP, AP, or VC, buy a piece you truly love and you will never have any regrets.
