No, you are not blocked.  I simply didn't think we had anything to discuss.  I used to notice occasional vague but snarky comments under my posts or the posts of other regulars here, but as you avoid quoting anyone or referencing anything directly (cloaking yourself in deniability), I gave up trying to determine who the comments were intended for or to what they were referring.

I thought your discussion of independents was interesting.  I might even find more of your posts of value if they weren't lost in a sea of your "Navel-gazing accusations" that at best seems to display some level of jealously, and add no value to the experience here.  I like seeing photos of watches here, particularly showing how these watches exist "In the wild." I never see anyone on other forums accusing people of navel-gazing when they post their watches on dedicated watch sites.  Its a very common practice.  Not to mention, if IIRC, when you got your last JLC you posted pix here...which I thought was a bit questionable considering you had just finished chastising people for posting wrist shots.  Its a watch thread so why shouldn't people feel encouraged to post photos of their watches rather than be harassed for doing so?

Loosen up and enjoy the photos it will make it a more enjoyable place.  BTW if this makes me a navel gazer...I'm ok with it because I freakin love this watch!

@Dino944 I think I asked you this before, but that's some kind of sport/performance clothing and not a wetsuit correct? shog[1].gif Although I kind of like the idea of some guy standing in his driveway in a wetsuit taking pictures of his watch! And nice watch… of course.

Dino, obviously I won't comment on the AP because you know how jealous I am.

Still, I will ask about the headlights in the background. 2013 Boxster S? Yours? Anymore pictures?

What would you respond to those categorizing Porsche Boxsters and Caymans as poor people's Porsches, or higher-end Miatas? I still entertain the dream of owning a Boxster S one day, but when I hear these kind of comments, I can't help but wonder if they're snobbery-downtalk or unbiased facts.

That's fantastic. A great pair to compliment each other.

Dino, I think pretty much all of us, including me(!), love seeing pictures of other member's watches. Even sometimes the same watches from the same owners, even if occasionally a repeat. (Or a repeat of a repeat of a repeat.)

You're correct: I've posted some photos myself over the years...in fact, IIRC, I posted one picture of my last purchase, a JLC. Had I been asked to post more, I may have. And perhaps, many months from now, I may post a picture of it again, unprompted. Hell, I may even post a picture of two of my next purchase, especially because I think it is one that you, of all people here, will truly appreciate.

I'm not jealous of anyone--I heartily endorse allowing folks to enjoy the fruits of their labor and pursuing what they love and what is important to them. Hell, I work for a couple folks who could probably buy and sell all of us and our watch collections, but I don't harbor any jealousy for their success or their choices about how to enjoy their success. I'm not sure how calling out navel-gazing could be deemed jealousy...those comments weren't reserved for those with watches at the upper tail of the bell curve. But yes, at times, there exists on this forum a lack of self-awareness that I find laughable, especially given how intelligent many of the participants in this group are. That I chose not to call out anyone specific was intentional, and not to shield myself with deniability. Frankly, it gets tiresome visiting the forum when instead of seeing something new, all I see are the same shots of the same watches from the same person. I could argue that doing that actually acts as a greater deterrent to others participating.

Anyway, good exchange of views. I like a vigorous and healthy dialogue. Keeps the board fresh. I look forward to reading more of your thoughts on watches--I find your comments frequently insightful and thought-provoking.

Hey would posting watch pics be navel gazing @Dino944? Yeah, you. I'm calling you out directly.  Can  you see my navel from this shot, or did I crop it out accidentally?

I take it this last post was a reply to one of those trolls I blocked. A few weeks ago I got another PM from a TWAT friend asking why that dude wanted to get a rise out of me. But that friend wasn't sure, because the posts were too general! Hahah. Couldn't be little old me, could it?  Has he finally had the guts to call me out directly, or he still circling around, couching his intentions as being for the good of the community? I mean, @TheWraith, you kind of post your SubC ND quite often. Sh*t, @dddrees you use similar pics!  And @Dino944 you know you've posted pics of your 16610LV AND this 15202 more than once...

Well, if you were defending me and my posting behavior, thanks brother. But don't feed the troll! :smarmy:

The DSSD from last weekend, paired with my tennis trainers from @Epaulet. Really like these sneakers, SF-"sourced" too.

The DSSD doesn't get a whole lot of love here on SF, but I know @rnguy001 loves it.  And even a non-opinionated dude like @Belligero, I hear, has changed his mind about this giant steel sculpture of a watch.

Thanks @rnguy001 - I didn't want to love her, but I kept coming back to check her out. :bounce2:

LUC Chopard makes some great stuff.  As a jewelry company that makes watches they seem to get the similar treatment as Piaget and Cartier

I guess I'm naval-gazing again. I don't care, if gopher doesn't like it, he can sod off wink.giftongue.gif

I'd desired this watch for years, and I'm gonna darn well show it off from time to time (and I don't think there's anything wrong in doing so):

Keep on trucking, @TheWraith - and enjoy that beauty!

Guilty as charged. In fact mine happen to be the same shots of the same boring watches more than a few times. Sorry guys, I've actually found a few that work for me and I'm just not in the mood to flip right now. Same photos yep, but I don't think I've posted them every day or even once every month.

Not really sure what the beef is, but isn't this a watch thread?
