The Patek reference 3970 in yellow gold would be grossly overpriced if it cleared for USD140K. At those price levels you should be looking at a 3970 in platinum, like this one:

@no frills - I think you mentioned it before that there are different series of the 3970.  Were you looking for a particular series for this watch or just what your dealer could find?

I appreciate the difficulties of the complications but just too busy of a dial for me.  Blashephy I know...

I wasn't very particular about the series - I actually quite liked the EP / third series because it automatically came with both a display back and a solid back; others are enamored with first or second series (different hands, etc) but depending on condition those might cost substantially more.

Although I certainly wouldn't mind owning a PP 3970 in platinum as seen above, this is simply way out of my price range for a watch (hell, even for a car).

For 0,35% of that PP's retail price, I'd be much more inclined to buy the Sea-Gull M199S, that retails for around 500$. This way, I could save 139,500$ and enjoy an aesthetic that, although isn't comparable in terms of quality, certainly isn't that far in terms of looks!

So much fun catching up with you Frills. As usual Mrs. Dino & I had a great afternoon. So glad we got to meet up again!

Yea, my 10 year old Sub looks pretty good for its age. I do wear my watches a lot, but I have good reflexes and maybe sonar (Daredevil 😉), so my watches tend to avoid doors , people with lots of jewelry and other hazards that tend to scratch & ding watches! Cheers!

That's pretty amazing. Seriously. That 16610LV looks brand new.

Ever wonder where the phrase "GMT" came from?

Some of us--the true horologists--knew exactly where you were. I hope you saw the Harrison chronometers while you were on the south bank of the Thames--simply stunning. If you're still in London and in need of recommendations for fantastic restaurants/pubs, let me know.
