Stitchy?

Im not a tech guy, so I have no idea, but my feeling as a Tapatalk user is that its a Tapatalk thing. Every so often the app turns to crap (I use it for other forums too that I browse on occasion) and I have to delete and re-install.

Majestic new wrist piece, Dino.

That sounds right to me.  The enabler in my already mentioned to him, that for a guy who does a lot of traveling, he doesn't have a GMT or dual time watch.  Maybe he could get a GMT and an Explorer II.  Then he will be certain each of his girls will have a watch with a GMT function!

I'd like to see Frilly dip his feet in to the Lange pool for a travel time watch.

Hahahahaha nooooo get thee behind me, Pernicious Enabler! I'm supposed to be living the somewhat austere "no new acquisitions" life this year!

This is the only Lange that tempted me recently, given my fondness for the perpetual calendar aesthetic:

Fortunately the price point drove a wedge between my desire and ownership.

My theory was that you never actually just do two.  Also that the other GMT you'd want would be a Pepsi.  So you would end up with the BLNR, Explorer II, then a white gold Pepsi and plat Daytona.  Of course, the latter two are not exactly TWAT-approved.  But then neither was the Deep Sea, let alone the Deep Blue.  I just don't think the BLNR +1 would be going hard enough for you.  So I deduce that if you go, you will go big, and so that's what's holding you back.  For now.  But don't forget the impending price increases.  Jump, Frilly, jump!

In the mean time, UPS are the worst: two days to go from NY to Philly via Kentucky, and two more days sitting around now it's there.  Must be going for a slingshot of some sort, like a Mars mission, to get over the Atlantic.  Assholes.

I can always grab it for you if it's in Philly, you know, for safe keeping.

Ahahah mimo!

Well I hope your package leaves the Northeast soon, as we are about to be hit (supposedly) by another snowstorm. Dozens of flights are already cancelled - through Tuesday.

@DLJr you wouldn't like it.

@no frills, then they shouldn't have sent it for a weekend in Kentucky, dammit!  Anyway, was I wrong on the Playtona?  Maybe you need two of those in their own right, or a Playtona and a President?  Maybe later.  So, WG Pepsi and YG Sub to go with the BLNR and the Ex?  Wait!  I'm so silly!  It's the WG Pepsi and the YG GMTII, isn't it?  I knew there was something crazy eating you!

and mimo, in regards to your $1000 one watch question, my TWAT-approved answer would be Stowa Fleiger, no date / no logo.

It's got tremendous readability, honest to goodness horological brand heritage, a reliable movement that could be easily serviced for years....your choice of straps...lots to love. I don't think anyone would regret such a purchase. Pilot's watches kind of have their own language, and whatever it is, I think the Stowa is quite fluent. (And I know how you feel about "ze Germanssss" LOL).

Now if you're asking how I've spent that amount personally for one watch....which I know you haven't (!) don't shoot me for adding this option (!).....then I would go with a Hamilton 7750-powered chrono. This is strictly in the spirit of having put some actual, hard-earned money where my own big mouth is.

I really do love mine, and have found that it gets plenty of wrist time amongst several other (more expensive) pieces. So, apparently they no longer make one with with the specific dial layout that I prefer, but you can still find something like the model shown below from a gray market seller.... a solid but not-too-massive 42mm, sold on SS bracelet for $950-ish USD.

It will wobble away on your wrist in a strangely satisfying manner, and would make a suitable complement to your Monster and your vintage Omega, IMHO.

Because, chronograph.

What an insightful fellow you are.  Although I haven't bought a Hamilton.

Hi RN, thanks for the good wishes.  I really appreciate it!

I am voting Frilly needs something outside of the Rolex spectrum for a GMT/Travel watch.  What about the lovely PP Nautilus Chronograph Travel Time (5990A)?  I mean he already knows the Nautilus fits well on his wrist!

He's on a Rolex bender, let him see it through.  I'm still betting Panerais and Big Pilots next year.  Watching Frilly is fun.

The dial of the Nautilus TT is a mess in pictures. Maybe it looks better in person, but I am not a fan from what I've seen in pics.
