The Watch Appreciation Thread (Reviews and Photos of Men's Timepieces by Rolex, Patek Philippe, Breitling, JLC etc...) - Page 2667

Not your usual TWAT fare but picked these two pieces up recently on the cheap - less than $200 all in each which probably won't even buy you a replacement link for the RO - but am relatively pleased with how they turned out. Saw them on massdrop and couldn't resist and anyway figured I couldn't go wrong at the price.

Seiko Superior - has a nice heft and that date window reminds me of the VC Overseas. Even has a display caseback!

Seagull M17 - strap is pretty crap and will have to be replaced, but dial is decent and pretty elegant.

Hahahah! Nice pic Stitchmeister!

Probably a bit overpriced, and sure, I could have had another Patek for the same money, but this one works so well with my favorite shirt, which coincidently is from an overpriced Parisian shirthole.

BTW, this watch garners more compliments than any watch I've ever worn. Mostly hookers and rappers, but still......

That is the only other time I have seen someone post a FM. Funny you say that, but I receive the same thing on my Casablanca, although those are pretty commonplace here on Long Island. I have never owned a watch for investment purposes, but my FM is by far the biggest flop, barely can get half of what I paid, but it has sentimental value so I will never sell.

His watches have never been my taste, but no watch can be everything to everyone.  However, that one does go nicely with your shirt.  Hope you enjoy and wear it in good health!

FMs never seemed to catch on in my region.  Where I live the few ADs were heavily discounting them, still couldn't move them and they would eventually drop the line and sell them at clearance prices.

As for compliments from women, at least in my experience women tend to love Muller and Cartier.  Even if there are other brand that are more elite, and have finer finishes, they like FM and Cartier. One of the former FM ADs used to sell mostly the women's models, or on occasion they would sell a men's model when a wife came in to buy the husband a watch and it wasn't going to be a Rolex.
