Of the three, this is the one for me:

Big surprise, eh.

But tell us directly about how you really feel, Belli!

I must be getting old as I am browsing around and thinking models like these (especially the all YG) are appealing...

I'm slowly getting towards my first watch purchase, which will probably be an Omega seamaster aqua terra, white dial, 39mm, and I'm looking forward to your educated advice.

My purpose is to get an all-around watch which can last me a long time, with a simple design and a style I can fancy for said long time. Probably a vain intention, though: since I started following this thread, I'm progressively appreciating the fine watches some of you post in here.

Also, as a side question: do you own a "one-watch" (i.e. one watch suitable for most venues/attire/occasions), regardless of your other possessions?

Advice: buy it, it is what you say.

Warning: one watch...hahahahaha *sigh* You are doomed to want many more.

Welcome!

Something like an Omega Aqua Terra would make a good "one-watch"; Rolex Datejust or an Explorer I would make another; perhaps an AP Royal Oak (time & date only) if you have a bigger budget. What's your price range?

@ frilly: the YG version would look great alongside your other Subs.

You're enough of a baller to rock that.

And FWIW, I like the look of a black perforated strap on the Carrera.

Casual by definition I suppose, but it plays up the racing heritage of that particular Tag in an appealing way IMHO.

Keith, I hadn't thought of a black perforated strap, I might check them out. Do you know of any good strap sellers?

Frilly, after ridiculing that platinum Daytona when it came out, I'm rather entranced by it, especially after playing around with one.  I would simply love to wear it, despite its preposterous nature.  And perhaps because of it.  The all-gold Sub isn't for me...but it is nevertheless awesome.

I think you need a steel Patek annual calendar chronograph, or something...

I think the colour combination on the platinum Dayton is really quite stunning; the contrast between the warm chocolate brown of the ceramic bezel with the ice coolness of the dial is genius and adds a clean, crisp and modern edge to an otherwise very classically styled watch. It's a perfect example how colour and metal selection can really breathe new life into an existing reference; like the re-fresh of the Patek 5205 when it was released in pink gold.

Hmmm… I'm completely the other way on these Rollies @academe. Daytona just looks gimmicky to me and all YG anything is not my bag.

I, too, love the grey side of the moon...only $500 more MSRP than the black, but with the 'dusty' platinum dial, it's much better looking IMO.

Got to handle the Grey Side at an Omega boutique, that dial!  :bounce2:

Think the name is sorta stupid though, but I can get over it lol
