And now I am complete.

Seriously, though — I freakin' love the OQ. If I had any sense, it would be my only watch.

OK, maybe I'd keep the 1675 GMT, too. :P

That's beautiful, but the real question we all want to know the answer to is.....

How do you get it through customs????

Very nice!  The OQ  is definitely a very under appreciated but great Rolex!   Those are actually my 2 favorite dials on the OQ.  Glad to hear you are enjoying it!

Doesn't seem that unreasonable for a chronograph from a high-end company assuming it includes refinishing, plus living in Australia taught me that it's brutal on watch prices in general. (And Lord knows I'm no Richemont fan, either.)

Parts pricing does seem a bit high, though.

I presume this isn't done locally in Australia? Do you know where they send the watch?

They sent it to Hong Kong, and have to wait for parts from their Swiss Manufacture.

Very interesting.  Not cheap, but I agree with Belligero, its quite reasonable for servicing a chronograph from a high-end brand.  Last heard that is just a little bit more than a complete service on a Rolex Daytona, and its less than what Patek was charging for servicing their chronographs almost 5 years ago.  If it includes refinishing the case then its very reasonable as that is a intricate case and bracelet to refinish and its a labor intensive job I would not trust to the local watch maker.  I haven't seen any old Overseas watches refinished that I can recall, but I've seen plenty of old Royal Oaks and Nautiluses that were mangled, at the hands of local watch makers who were over zealous when refinishing cases, bezels and bracelets.  Thanks for sharing that info with us.

Its definitely not bad for service on a chronograph from a high end brand.  It seems Patek was charging 1,500 CHF to service chronographs back in 2010 and that did not include refinishing the case, which of course was extra.  Not sure what their current service prices are but here is their list from 2010 in Swiss Francs.

Im surprised you can get a complete service and new crystal from VC for under 2k, honestly.

If anyone from VC is reading this, what I meant to say was, Almost $1700 for a service and crystal? THATS AN OUTRAGE!!!

A light polish of the case, bracelet and bezel will be included, as I was trying to squeeze as much value as possible, haha.

I was quoted 500USD to repair a Patek chronograph circa 1990. It was working but not resetting precisely to zero. It wasn't really bugging me so I put the repair on the back burner (as is my wont with minor watch repairs.) Some months later I happened to be wearing the watch while visiting The Time Museum and mentioned the repair quote to Seth Atwood. He gave it to one of the museum's watchmakers (could have been George Daniels) and it was fixed and back on my wrist in around 15-20 minutes. Me thinks those high end service departments produce a healthy revenue stream.

That is pretty reasonable for a Big Three chronograph service. As of 2-3 years ago, it cost around CHF 800-900 to service an AP minor complication (like my RO Dualtime), so around AUD 1000.
