Moo, don't sell the Speedy. It is such a great watch and what is this nonsense about being a one watch guy?

Exactly

I would consider a speedy a keeper watch. Not only for the watch itself but also that it will bring a relatively small sum in trade/resale.

I bet Mr. Moo has big wrists, meaning that the Speedy will look more than appropriate on him with most any outfit apart from black tie. Between that and it's history and appeal, it's a keeper.

Exactly. Selling a speedy pro won't make much of a dent in a Daytona. Keep it.

"Casual" business dinner later - figure I should lose the divers for one night. Happy Hump day

Not that I disagree with not selling, but I believe he is contemplating a 36mm DJ.

Why not keep the speedy and hang on to it through the DJ's honeymoon phase and then decide what to do with it. If you find yourself never reaching for it you can sell it then.

The Speedmaster is a fantastic watch, and I think it's one of the best-looking in production. It's well worth having.

But if I was going with a single watch to wear all the time, and wasn't doing any ... uh ... chronograph-ing, the 36 mm OP would be the one to have. It's essentially the same thing as the 36 mm Explorer, but with the newer clasp and bracelet. It's ideal for the one-watch scenario, especially with either the blue 3-6-9 or the grey baton-marker dial options.

So not crazy at all, in my opinion.

I agree with Goodman.  Keep the Speedy and see how things go through the DJ's honeymoon period.  Once the newness wears off the OP can decide whether to sell one, or if he finds he actually wears both, keep them both.  Two watches is far from excessive.  Its not as though most people just have one pair of shoes, or one jacket, and different activities or events could call for a different watch.

Thanks guys. I'm keeping the Speedy and will keep on shopping.

Good call, Moo.

Those two are pretty different....surely you can find room in the stable for a second watch.

I'm wearing this one today. Haven't posted a pic in a while:
