Maybe by then we'll have matching Portugueses...my top pick is the same as yours.

For shoes and belts and the like, I agree that black and brown are incompatible.  But on watches, it's something of a classic.  Perhaps it derives from the standard for military/pilot watches on which many modern casual and sporty numbers are based: black dials to not catch the light at a distance, plain leather for simple utilitarianism.  Either way, I think for a pilot or chrono it's pretty fine.  It's just the "utilitarian" part that's redundant: cows' gain is crocodiles' loss!

The Lange looks great, don't know why grey is not one of the three standard options besides black and brown.

You cheated a bit with the AP; the rose gold serves as a buffer between the black and brown.

That's not a Lange.  That is a Glashutte Original, but yes it has a similar design to the Lange 1.

Speaking of GO, what is the "panorama date"?

I'm the wrong guy to ask, as  I'm not a fan of  any of the "Pano" models.  I don't want to rehash my thoughts on these watches, as I've discussed them in depth before with other SFs...an that always stirs up a hornets nest.  I'll simply leave it at they make a very good quality watch, but I would choose something that isn't IMHO, a high end homage to the Lange 1.

I don't disagree with you D.

I was looking the other day to find out what the Pano function was (unless its just a naming gimmick), and wasn't able to find anything conclusive on their website or in any preliminary google search.

There are various Pano models.  Its just the line of watches that looks something like an L1.  They have made them with a variety of functions, such as reserve, moonphase, chronograph, etc.

Quite agree.  Although I like this one inherently, it's clearly derivative, or at least looks that way.  I actually like that it's less tidy somehow than the Lange, better to my eye in a way, and I say that as a Lange "fanboi".  But they are just too similar.  The only justification might be that as it's steel, it's small fraction of the price!  Senator PC is the GO that speaks to me most.

Very well!  I just picked the most expensive one that came to hand, but fair point.  Here are three from my wish list, varying styles and prices from $1k-$10k:

If the Speedy Massive hasn't yet convinced you, dwell on these for a while: black belt brown shoes = bad.  black watch brown strap = good.  Believe. :)

All that said, they are beautiful watches with in house movements. I particularly like their 60's and 70's models which are a bit more unique. If they are considered a poor man's Lange, I will never be in Lange territory so I would consider them an option.

Sorry, my friend...as for design, its Lange 1 FTW !!!

As I stated previously, they make a very good quality watch.  That being said, if I were to buy a GO, I'd never buy a Pano.  I would only buy something from one of their other lines like the senator.  I completely understand that in steel you get something that is close to the design of the Lange 1 at a much lower price.  That works for some people.  Not for me.  I'm one of those people that appreciates and wants original designs, not derivatives or homages.  If I can't afford something, I'll gladly admire the real deal from afar, rather than have an homage/derivative but that's just me.  Everyone is free to do what they like.
