Congrats CTLION!  Interesting switch from divers to a chrono.

Dino will be happy with Omega coming out with yet another Limited Edition!!!! Speedy for the 45th anniversary of the moon landing.

Has anyone ever looked into strap alternatives for the Seamasters from the early 90s like this?

Hmmmm. That looks to be a tough one without maybe a custom SS endlink. The easy way is to notch a strap, but I wouldn't that little bit of material holding my watch on... If it was the other way around and you'd have to notch out the middle portion of a strap I'd feel more confident.

This afternoon I am purchasing a Omega Speedmaster Professional with a black alligator strap. I may also purchase a light brown leather strap as well. As a toddler in the watch admiration society, I thought it was appropriate to purchase a manual wind watch that is fairly priced.

I fear I am in trouble...as this new watch fascination of mine is not a cheap one.

excellent choice!

agree that its best on a nice croc strap, but also agree with newC that you should but it with the bracelet and then add the strap, not visa versa.

I hope it has a more prominent moonphase.  And is over 45mm, with an extra chapter ring that says "Omega" all the way around in bright red, with a moon in the "O".  And has an updated claim on the caseback that says "The Only Watch Every Approved by Anyone at NASA and the ONLY WATCH THAT'S BEEN ANYWHERE NEAR THE MOON.  Nobody at NASA Even Likes any Other Watch.  FORTY-FIVE YEARS, BITCHES!"*

Anyway, who cares what I think? I haven't even got a Speedmaster.  smile.gif

For a guy who writes so much about watches, I would think you have a huge collection of fancy watches. Please share your watches here so that we can admire them.

This from the guy who owns the foreign exchange market?

Its not cool to troll and pick on people.

I happen to know quite a few people who write extensively about watches but don't own a Henry Graves collection.

I sold my Porsche 911. Does that mean I don't know anything about them or cant speak intelligently about them?

You'll have to settle for my wit.

Grey suede!

Grey alligator suede, if you're a baller.

That's about where I'd got to.  I have a cheap Chinese strap I might try it with, to see if I could make it look neat.

Thanks.

I agree with Sander. Though there are darker brown straps I do like with speedys, such as Haywards. I think it's tough to get right though.

Madness! Mid-brown straps on Speedy's / PAMs are da bomb!

Go to the dark side. Well, I guess the lighter side.

Dark brown Omega Croc...

Mid Brown on GS.

It might not be TWAT-loved, but it's the pick of the bunch there for me.  I don't mind the strap but it's underwhelming.  The one with the blue markers comes on blue croc and looks amazing.  So would this.  Or brown of course.  I hope you get it, it's a lot more exciting to me than the Aqua Terra (or its cheap Longines version above!).  It wears fairly big, and that lip around the case will catch on your shirt sleeve so it's always peeking out to be seen.  But it's pretty enough to be worth it IMHO.

The cut-off 12 and 6 always bothered me on that Port Chrono. On some other watches, it doesn't .... but just couldn't get past it on that model for whatever reason.

Great choice, but as recommended above, definitely get the bracelet! I don't think you'll regret it.
