Awesome!

I'm saying goodbye to my 7-days Portuguese today, it finally found a new home. I love the aesthetics of the watch, but its hockey puck like size and shape made it a difficult choice whenever I opened the watch box. Neither sport nor dress. I still have my Fliegerchrono, so thankfully I'm not totally IWC-less shog[1].gif

I might regret this, but they are not really that hard to find again should the "goodbye" only be a "see ya later" biggrin.gif

she will be missed but if she is not getting wrist time, its probably time for her to leave.

great pic all the same.

You are selling your Port 7-days? Understandable, although it is a lovely watch. I found it too large for my tastes, especially with the thing bezel and, as you mentioned, hockey puck shape.

Nonetheless, I am surprised anyone would sell what has been called on this thread the greatest, best finished, most perfectly engineered watch in existence by an esteemed forum member.

Yeah, not an easy choice, but I needed to fund the AP ROC. It was time to start weeding out the freeloaders in the collection. If you are too much like a better liked brother in the box, or not contributing to wrist time, you are out on your ass! (When I say I the AP needed funding, I know I already bought it, but we are also looking for a new home, and the watch account is not getting as much as a penny from anything other than watch sales. But you know, a bridge loan from the house account is ok lol8[1].gif)

So, one Autavia, the nipple dialled 18k GMT-Master and now the IWC Port are sold. My "Jo Siffert" Autavia is next. And then there is my fresh obsession with Vacheron ... Who knows how that will play out?

Haha that is awesome. Yeah, I find that I rarely wear "duplicative" pieces. I could see how the ROC and that IWC would share a similar place in a collection. And I would wear the ROC seven days a week and twice on Sundays, if I had to choose between it and the IWC.

+1, if I could get comfortable with having one watch, the RG ROC would be it.

Yeah, most definitely up there for me. Not sure if that would be my choice... but it very well may. Maybe just a 15202 or a 5712 for me...

Yes, this is the 5960 annual calendar chronograph - self-winding, all steel, on a bracelet. The previous 5960s have been discontinued.

Comments, TWAT brethren? Go.
Holy crap, I finally remembered what that subdial reminds me of. It's not "energy drink" cans (eyesores though they are)...
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

...it's shitty action movies!

been there done that, totally acceptable. wait, do you have to pay back bridge loans?

lol newc that funny you made was awesome.

i think that aside from major grail pieces, either my ToG or an AP RO could be as close to a "one watch" for me as i could get, but i think i would always need a second watch with a leather strap for dressier wear.

I have always had the 7-days in the same category: a watch that I know I'm supposed to like, but just doesn't appeal to me.

On paper, it's great. All the specs are there, it has that awesome Pellaton movement, dial is well-balanced and very legible, etc.....and just in terms of IWC overall, as a brand-- I really do like them.

Photos of this piece can be quite attractive....yours very much included, NS. And I have rarely (if ever) heard any bad reviews or ownership impressions.

But whenever I would try one on, I just didn't get that "smile back"-- and ultimately, I guess that's all that matters.

Godspeed, Portuguese, godspeed....

Congrats on the JV! I resisted picking one up for quite some time, but the available patina pictures of worn JVs finally caved me in. Mine took about 2 weeks of wear before it developed its signature, darker golden brown, and I love the increasing contrast between the strap and its stitching as the color continues to darken. Also, according to the wife, the nubuck alligator material "feels really cool," and I concur.

Wear it in good health. cool.gif
