That layout of the 62/103 is just perfect.  I know it's just a bit of quirky Panerai-ness, but I just can't love the dials where they drop one of the numbers.  It's OK when both the "3" and "9" are gone, but just one makes it look one-eyed.  The most accessible current model with this layout seems to be the 504.  Any recommendations for an older/cheaper model in this configuration?  I know some of you folks have dozens of models from memory...

I will have agonised dreams of the 62 tonight I think.

None come to mind immediately if you want small seconds.

Several if you are willing to give up the seconds hand

Does anybody have an idea how much it would cost to replace an oscillator in an old Omega Seamaster? Or would it even be possible? I know very little about watch repair...

So, I picked up my new watch today icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

Kaplan, were you right?

20140306_142925_zps812b0924.jpg

Yes! Good job nod[1].gif

20140306_142934_zps6f2f1781.jpg

Of course, it's a Rolex Oysterquartz, mod 17000, 6.4 mil serial number, making it a 1980 vintage. Silver dial, and in a mint condition.

20140306_142957_zps5caf40c4.jpg

All the bells and whistles: Inner and outer box, leaflets, punched papers.

And even the original blue dial. A spectacular blue color, but the last owner had it changed for a silver one.

Sold locally here in Norway, that's nice.

The seller had a new battery installed, and we met at a local watchmaker who also shortened the bracelet. Just perfect!

I'm sorry for the mobile pictures and lack of more info, but I'll be back with proper shots and more thoughts on the watch. So far I can say that it is indeed both descreet and loud, a very audible TICK smile.gif Thanks!

Congrats! That's a beauty nod[1].gif

I've always liked the oysterquartz 17000 along with AP's quartz offerings. Am I banned from this thread redface.gif

Looks brilliant!  Congrats NS...and don't you hate that smart-ass Kaplan? Good job, K!

Really, it's such a great looking thing, and a classic in its own right surely.  Even Dino's a fan, I believe.

Derek: wot no seconds? Hmm.  Might as well buy a sundial, though the lume would be a bit redundant.

Great watch NS!

After something of a hiatus, I have returned to the TWAT. I have missed the warmth of the members. And of course, Kate Upton.

Finally caught up on the thread. Took a little while, and I won't dredge anything up, but some good stuff happened here in my absence.

NS - outstanding find! I love all the extras too like the blue dial (in case you ever want to switch it out I'm sure it'll look fantastic), as well as the pretty awesome passport fold.

Congrats. Kaplan is too smart.

Hands up who thinks NS should put the blue dial in?
